The god is called back and people are trained in archery. Fortifications are improved and a large sacrifice is gathered. The spearmen slowly move out into the open Savannah

 

The god appears in a flash of blinding light, apparantly stronger than before. He is now a tier 4 god, and will now grant you more powerful abilities. However, you still need to put more favor for that, and you need to treat him well.

i begin to set some dragons to make a university. i use the specials to clear some land for the vassals, and learn how to hunt and farm under the trees. i also send out the rest of the regs to hunt, and gather.

 

The Dragons create a makeshift university which the dragons can use to study. Your dragons figure out how to stalk through the forest to hunt game, though they aren't very good at it. However, your vassals were all exterminated.

The Scathe flood over the rest of the city, despite their efforts of their god, and quickly take it over. As soon as the god leaves, the city begins instantly decaying in response to your own god of decay, who is now tier 2. Incabulos grants your Scathes a permanent form change of your choice, to make them far more efficient at building a powerful empire, as it's rather hard to fight other nations on an even level at the small size your Scathes have.

i call em dragons. but whatever. i set the dark breathers to research bows (usable, but not a weapon of choice.) and arrows. also, continueing research of agriculture, and breath abilities. i do this for a while, until i have the bows, and other things.

Your dragons quickly discover that their hands are not adept at using bows. Your researchers suggest armor, which would be far more useful.

Incabulos ask if this is your final decision on the matter (it was a 20, so you might not have another change for a while, especially when you start using tools and such), and suggests that the orb has arms and catapillar legs, to better use advanced weaponary.

A great sacrifice of pronghorns is held, and pronghorns are given sacrificial holy status. Several temples and a shrine are constructed (temples are smaller than shrines), and monks are sent to man them. The god gives you a preliminary set of directions:

Dominion over Nature - Only one who controls nature can control himself

Murderous Covenant - Do not kill, unless it is to prevent the killing of another

 

The God asks you if you would like the chance to prove yourself by fufilling tasks based on each of the tenets of the path of light, along with other random rules he makes up.

The Spearmen are quickly killed by the Giant termites. You realise that your soldiers need to be better equipped before moving into the jungle, but that many rewards could be found there. The horses remain small, but your scientists quickly realise that they are very strong and agile, capable of being used for combat, especially since your species has gotten smaller. The Archery academies are set up, but they aren't much better than the regular schooling.

 

The almighty god gives you the first task.

 

"Explore the jungle and find a pond downstream from a large waterfall. Build a shrine in my honor there, so the savages of the jungle can see the truth of my light."

The Kindger Gotten already seem to have basic leather armor, though your researchers improve upon it so that it is satisfactory defence to archers. The spears are as improved as they can be with the material they are made of: wood and stone.

The dragons poke their claws into the material and quickly retract it. The insides of the metal have come out in liquid form and...clamped around their claws upon contact with the air. You try heating it, but it only makes the outsides of the metal harder. (Everyone has this metal, you just got a 18 to discover it first)

Species Description:

 

Nephilim are commonly a bit shorter than humans. They are lithe and weigh far less than the average human, which gives them their speed and their nimbleness. As a feline race, they are covered with fur and have heads shaped like a cat's. A nephil's ability to see in the dark is renowned, and their sharp vision alone makes them skilled scouts and archers.

 

Nephilim have an average lifespan of close to 40 years and rarely live more than half a century.

Nephilim come of age close to 10 years, reaching full maturity at 13.

 

Nephilim are at home on the surface, mainly in forested regions but also taking shelter in smaller caves.

They are most often found as fletchers.

 

They are fierce warriors and have a strong tribal structure. However, clans often engage in raids on each other, stopping just short of outright warfare. Two tribes will not live together unless the situation necessitates it. Nephilim clans live in isolation, which keeps them from achieving the great societies that humans have formed.

 

Nephilim are extremely nimble, and they excel at archery, lockpicking, and disarming traps, which makes them excellent adventurers. While not particularly adept at research, every tribe does have its own shamans, who advise the chief. It is interesting to note that there have been no Nephil archmagi(code for scientist) worthy of mention, despite there being many shamans.

 

Nephilim are natural hunters and carnivores, who hunt mainly rodents, but other wild animals as well. While the Nephilim are a warlike race, they rarely hunt large or ferocious creatures, using their prowess in battle almost exclusively for defense or in tribal conflicts.

 

On formal occasions, the Nephilim cover their fur with cloaks sewn from a rough cloth spun from flax. Such clothing is not common and likely a luxury item. In everyday life, light leather armor is customary for adults as well as adolescents

 

The longbow has long been the cultural weapon of choice of the Nephilim

When ranged combat, their preferred style, is not practical, the more advanced tribes use light blades forged of iron or even steel, and the more primitive resort to blunt weapons, stone cudgels and bronze maces.
