shawn3090
money is not an option.Might wanna fix that. Also, if you have the gauntlets, smithing gold is a nice alternative. I don't know if it's more cost effective than steel plates, though. [hide=Stats][/hide]"One death is a tragedy. D. V. Devnull
Hi there, I'm currently 53 Smithing and wish to get it up to 65 for questing. Which is the quickest method, I don't care how much it costs I just want to know the quickest method, money is not an option. Thanks :) Ignore all the above info from other posters. There is a better (and far more profitable) way to level smithing, assuming you have the nature runes and fire staff (or fire runes, either will do) to get this started with somewhere in your vast bank space... Patience is a definite must, however, but it will pay off. B) First off, mine about 300 mithril and 1200 coal. Smelt them into their respective 300 Mithril bars. Then, make the highest-level mithril item that you're able to make. Once you rack up a stack or two from that of mithril items, high-alch all of it with the aforementioned nature runes. This will give you both gp and the ability to buy even more nature runes in order to repeat all of this. Keep doing it until you've gained at least 2M gp (at the minimum what I've gained from this process) or more in your bank. Have fun... I hope my post helps you. :D ~Mr. D. V. D. V. Devnull
@ 'Pinkbullet3', 'bladewing', & 'funion987' --- The RuneScape economy is totally upside-down and gone to hell. Until it gets fixed, self-sufficiency is the best way to go about Mining/Smithing... Seeing as I'm sure none of you will start the thread that would result in such a repair, I ask you to keep your negative opinions to yourself. Keep in mind, it is the person who began the thread we're posting in that will make the final decision as to what they wish to do. jayc3399
Self sufficiency is only a good concept when you entirely ignore opportunity costs. OT: I believe that smelting gold bars with the gauntlets is relatively fast and at a very low cost. Low C
Self sufficiency is only good if you disregard what your time is worth. Sometimes it is a fun way to train skills cheap. I am a self sufficient farmer but I disregard time because I don't mind taking longer to fufill my goal. I would suggest gold smithing gauntlets and gold ore smelting in your position but if you want to be self sufficient and find that fun and challenging then go for it. jjjon123
Doing pl8s is the fastest way but it is very expensive, though you say money is not an option i am going to give you a cost analysis anyway Based on 312k xp from 53-65 smithing. (final cost is after alching the pl8s) Iron Plates 12480 Iron Bars @ 375 Each = 4,485,312 gp ( You will Have to make 2496 Plates)Steel Plates 8320 Steel bars @ 1100 Each = 7,584,512 gp (You will have to make 1664 Plates) Goldsmithing with gauntlets Gold Bars 5552 Gold Ore @ 315 Each = 1,132,608 (Assuming you sell the gold bars afterward) BTW: I am at 65 smithing right now and got that (from a starting level of around 50) by superheating mithril  and it didn't cost me a penny 1,000 F2P Total Level Reached 10/8/10 ! Nope, you misinterpret me. =; The reason I considered the opinions of the three who I responded to as "negative" was because of the derisive nature (particularly towards myself) which they took on. -.- My initial thought on the other hand about "ignore all the above", however, was more of a "hold the presses" kind of thought... Further, it was made purely on the statement "money is not an option", which basically meant that the OP ('duckstarr13') needed to avoid the G.E. (AND any gp usage) as completely as possible. Which with how the G.E. is messed up, means that speed really goes out the window if any person (even you, me, someone else, and/or 'duckstarr13') wishes to come out on top of the situation and with a nice package of gp to spare. I guess I'll have to get started on that 'G.E. Bladewing
You can take advice from the kind Devnull, who has 65 smithing, or from the meanies who have 99 smithing. Buy whatever you're going to use, be it ores or bars. Mining ores is a waste of time for mining anyway.
