So...What skill will be comming to rs, and why do you think it help the game.

Ok, simply, This isn't a suggestion of what the skill should be - it is a debate.

I want to know, what skill you think is coming, how and why it will improve the game, and how will the player benefit.

--My small statement--

I personally think Engineering. This will open up a whole new weapon and armour range.

From melee, magic, to range.

They should allow you to build your own mechanical weapon.

This isn't what i think they should let you build just a small example, about mechanical.

Dwarf Cannon.

Hand Cannon.

I think they should open up more weapons like this, not all multicombat-worthy such as Dwarf Cannon.

More like, Hand cannon.

For weapons, you could add special features to the sword you are crafting, i honestly have no idea for what this could be:)

But mining and smithing would fit nicely into this skill,

Mining, to mine the materials you need, and filling in gaps on the mining Skill list.

Smithing to craft the bars/items you need...Aka...Cannon balls. Perhaps, pellets, etc.

Like i said, This isn't a Suggestion, it's a debate, now anybody who doesn't agree with this, Skill.

Please, post your reasons why not, if you like it, post why so.

And also post your idea's and vice verse.

Ranching seems like a nice idea, except that none of the updates seem to relate in any way to it.

Engineering sounds like it would be some kind of enchantment skill, but the problem is that it sounds like it would cost money to train. some J-Mod revealed that it will not cost any(or very little) money to train.

I think it will be Ranching, a skill that can be linked with Construction and Farming. Perhaps people will get the horses they've wanted for years.

I like this idea, You could also be able to grow other-mystical creatures.

And they could let you mount them :)

Runescape - Jagex did say this skill will be better than Sailing.

So...Maybe thats it! D:

The next skill will be Racketeering. Players will be able to build up their own personal mafia, first consisting of lowly muggers and thieves and later on branching out into more serious stuff like dark mages, renegade paladins, evil elves etc. You'll have to invest into these, of course, and pay their upkeep; in return, you'll be able to perform robberies, thefts of large value, assassinations etc. with your crew. Of course, recruting them might not be easy - you might have to pay only an amount of cash, but you may have to pass some kind of test to prove you're worth working for, while others might only want to work with an accomplished mage etc.

Jobs would involve you and your NPC companions in a separate instance just for you. You would have to work together with your allies to triumph over your foes or to evade them and get to the treasure - for example, there could be a door that only opens while someone else is standing on the switch to it. You would have to coordinate all this and give instructions to your teammates.

You'll receive a gold reward from whoever contracted you to do the crime, and/or will be able to reap the bounty and make off with the loot on the spot. If you're not successful, at best you'll escape with your crew, at worst the guards or the target person could kill you! If you get spotted (someone reveals your true identity and survives to tell the tale) then the local guards (for example, if you had to steal from the Ardougne palace, then all the guards in Ardougne) will attack you for a set time (in real time, of course), which may be shortened in some cases by bribing the authorities. This would also mean that your actions would have more consequences than ever - say, you but usually train agility at the advanced gnome course, but get a contract to steal some crates of gnome food from the Gnome Stronghold. You'd have to be careful to do the job well, or not to it at all, or you might find you won't be able to train agility as the gnomes deny you access to the course and will even try to kill you if they can! Or even more serious business - if you want to assassinate a high-ranked captain in the Varrock army, but get busted, you will lose access to the Grand Exchange for some time!

Of course, gold and the loot wouldn't be the only reward. You could take your strongest crewmembers along into normal battles. Each time you summon them (via the summoning skill, what else?) you would need to pay them an extra fee so that they would risk their necks to be your bodyguard. And there could be other miscellaneous rewards - do business with an enigmatic mage and he might teach you a new spell, although the job would obviously be hard. Or do some jobs for an important person and he might put in a few good words for you with the charter ship managers, so that you could travel cheaper. You know, permanent, more or less useful rewards.

Well, that's what I'd like to see anyways. I think it's obvious why it'd help the game. I like it when your actions have consequences.

EDIT: I like this idea so damn much, I'll refine it then suggest it on the RSOF. Jagex probably won't care, but why not delude myself into thinking they will? <.<

Mckinzy is spot on. Not only do we get this thread every week, there are currently like 5 versions of it in the first two pages of General Discussions. Speculation is useless and it's just a bunch of people spouting what they want the skill to be.

Hell, why don't I join in. But I'll not be creative: Sailing.

BTW: you should get your irony sensor working. And it should be "If there's a god in heaven - not capitalized :P

You ruined my inb4sailing :( honestly, they said they doubted anyone would guess it, and they probably won't.

Edit: bad grammar... Oh well.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

I'm rather shocked that people are already trying to make theories for the future skill. I'd rather wait until they drop a few clues.

I would like to see Archaeology or Shape Shifting next. Archaeology, well, just see Outsanity's suggestion on it, it's perfect.

And for Shape Shifting, we already have a totem pole somewhere in karamja/khazari jungle from memory, not to mention those random gorilla/monkey faced statues everywhere. You could be under the 'effect' or 'influence' of an animal, for example, for the werewolf you could attack 1 speed notch faster with any weapon for X minutes.

I can see great potential in Shape Shifting. Also I watched a music video called "butterfly caught" by massive attack, and figured Shape Shifting could be trained like that. In the vid the guy stares at a moth and slowly the moth's markings start appearing on the guy, as if he's leeching everything from it, it's energy, it's markings etc. and in the end the moth dies and he is literally a human moth. I think it could work like that, it's just brilliance.

For a long time too now, I've been wondering also, what that weird machine/portal thing is near the abberant spectres under Pollivneach. Maybe the next skill could be some sort of travelling/portal jumping skill where it takes you to new lands to unlock new skills + monsters? That would be pretty cool. Don't know how it could be trained... but nevertheless =D

We're *still* waiting for the new skill.

Dungeoneering is definitely the best minigame ever put into RS, though. ;)
