Should I buy an AGS??

Hey guys,

With the economy how it is, is there a good time to buy an AGS?

I'm guessing it's going to start recovering as people get over the panic that seemed to grip all combat items when dung was released.

I doubt AGS will fully recover, since it's no longer the best. But it should rise up a bit, although I think it'll keep crashing for 1-3+ more days.

Get SGS, that one's much better if you're going to use it outside of godwars also. :thumbsup:

SGS is completely worthless, the only useful one is AGS if that. I'd take BGS/whip + Dragon Claws over AGS or SGS 99% of the time.

Having owned all godswords I beg to differ. The only godsword I would consider worthless is ZGS.

 

The power of SGS is in its healing and prayer restore abilities. AGS and BGS have their power in higher hits. The only difference is their specs, and if you'd ask me for an order of preference I would say:

 

1. SGS

2. AGS

3. BGS

4. No GS

 

Of course for me, money is not an issue...

 

 

That said, it does depend slightly on what you're going to be using the GS for...

SGS is worthless because it saves you pennies whereas dragon claws save a surprisingly large amount of time. At bosses damage output is even more important, since one round less of combat means one less round of taking damage. AGS is useful for PvP since it is a very powerful weapon with a strong special attack. Most would take whip + claws in PvP but that's more risky.

 

The cost of an SGS would be more useful if you sold it and threw the money at prayer or herblore.

 

PS: having owned all the godswords doesn't make you any more an expert on the matter than does owning a dragon longsword and a battleaxe make a player who uses a battleaxe an expert.

Well that entirely depends on why you want an AGS, if you want it to go be a PVP king, than sure now is a good time because its cheaper. But if you want to try and make a profit off of this little economic dip, then pick something else, you could get a lot more money investing into many cheaper things that will compound the profit made. For example, if you buy the AGS and it goes up 250k (just an example it would probably bounce back higher than this) then you made 250k but if you bought 25k of something else, and it rose just 10gold, then you have made 250k also so yea.

If you want one, yes. However AGS's are over rated. The best use of them is lending. Claws are better in any situation I can think of with the exception of pking in which I have no experience.

As a player with 99 prayer I have absolutely no use for a SGS.

Ags is not worthless; In Bh+1 worlds, you can just risk your armour, not a whip too (adds up if you die a few times a day, which most people do).

 

However; It isn't really worth the cost if you don't PvP, Whip and Dragon Claws beats anything with medium or lower defence. Follow what String says.

Your melee stats are in the low 80s ... How would you know anything about godswords and their uses?

This isn't merely directed at you, but if you're still at judging people on a random account's levels, I wonder if you have the brain capacity to even know what you're talking about. If you wish to claim the value of an item does not depend on what it's used for, it is beyond me how you maxed combat without learning anything.

 

Each of the weapons named have their pros and cons. In my situation SGS works best for many situations. Several maxed or near-to-maxed friends of mine this also is the case. Experience is what counts, and if you choose to dismiss people's experience on arrogance, I wonder what I've been doing acknowleding the likes of you.

Maybe because we've tested them far more then you? DER? Ya see, blade did the math and showed why sgs is essentially not worth it.

 

Lotsa people call those who know what they are talking about "arrogant". Its the easiest path. Don't disprove them, just call them names.

Wow, it's been a long time since I've seen someone (let alone more than one person) discredit someone else by calling them an "arrogant high-level".

 

So as to not spam: Dragon claws are undeniably better than an AGS or SGS in almost all combat situations. I, however, would buy the SGS, as I've always wanted one (in other words, my opinion is biased).
