Okay, finished part 3 of the campaign, and rejigged the whole thing so that it makes more sense (Storyline wise), and I got the oppertunity to put in a totally OP boss which will probably slaughter you all!

Well, maybe.

This also means there will be a part four of the campaign.

Anyway, we can get this rolling now.

"Still fighting through endless waves of the undead, the party is beginning to tire. However, even in their exhausted state, they manage to make short work of a particularly intimidating looking zombie, and find a veritable bucketload of loot. This, of course, sparks tension, because apparently Jen wants a bloodstained necklace to make herself look pretty, while the rest of the party wishes to sell it. They eventually find a good spot to take a rest, and it shall be greatly required, lest they fall to the unknown evils that lie beyond the chapel gates."

Imposing, eh?

I'm sort of experimenting with a special reward right now. if you guys don't like it, I can remove it, but I think it's a pretty cool idea, really.

okay, finished making part 4 of the campaign. For the record, you guys just started part 3, so you have a fair way to go yet.

Session on at 12:00, as per usual. Retech said that he may be back halfway through the session, Paul, Grim and Icu should all be here, having given me no notices of absence.

Earth is probably going to shout "I'M NOT PLAYING" again or something, regardless of the fact that with games like D&D, you either tell somebody you don't want to play, or you tell them you aren't going to turn up in advance. You can't just arrive and say "Not playing".

Yeah I'll be on.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?

Let's get this rolling.

EDIT:

Paul will not be arriving, and the campaign was designed for 4+ players, so we shall not be playing today.

See y'all next weekend.

(In the meantime, I'm going to plan the next campaign)

Also, I'll just ask you guys this now in preparation for tommorow's game:

I've been thinking about the death rules as of late, and I feel adding a permenant death rule would be a good idea.

Yeah yeah, I know, GASP, SHOCK, HORROR and all, but think of it this way:

It'll make you guys feel more attached to the character, meaning the general roleplaying atmosphere would be improved, leading to more epic moments, "just as planned" moments, and general awesomeness that I can brag on /tg/ about.

Now, obviously you wouldn't be thrown back to level one if the rest of the party is like level seven, you'd just make a new character who is two levels lower than the party average, rounded up. This way, nobody gets permenantly gimped, but people still end up being attached to their characters. I'd trust you guys not to make the character a carbon-copy of the deceased character, and the new character wouldn't have any of the memories and items of the dead one, and things like that.

Also, team killing will have different rules. You still die, but you just lose the regular 100 xp*level, and half of your gold.

I'm not going to implement it unless you guys are okay with it (Because I'm not evil), so speak now if you don't want this system to be put into effect. If you don't like it, I expect some decent reasoning, too.

I can argue for AND against the whole death is permanent idea.

In the matter of agreement, yes you'll feel closer to your character and play with a little more pizazz than "I do this". Players will be more inclined to be creative in that sense. Also, players will probably take better care in how they spread talents, as well as the professions their character might have. A more in depth backstory to each character will show itself as well.

The down side. You get someone who has worked hard on a character to have it die before the player intended (ex. They had a goal in mind or wanted to carry out their character's own personal story) either through an OP boss or another player's mistake (big issue).

Well, I've been relatively good at balancing so far. And as I said, team killing will have different rules.

If a boss really beats the party to hell, then I'll see it's overpowered and not enforce the rule, obviously.

And if they like the character, they'll take better care of their character.

Yeah, ICU would likely be killed by an embarassing accident while trying to be epic and Earth might shoot himself in the foot with a poisoned arrow.

I was more referring to the subtle mistakes a party member could make.

Well it seems like an interesting idea, but it would be very annoying if the death of a player was ultimately caused by the blunder of another player *cough*.

You know I only do sessions for this on Fridays and Saturdays Earth.

Anyway, I'm not going to include the rule if somebody doesn't want it, so it's up to you really.

I mean, you generally talk things through if they're "Life and Death" important, like that one time with Jen, and I try to make it so that one person making a mistake will not Doom the whole party, so yeah. It's your call.

PS. In future, if anybody is going to be away, PM me in advance, as soon as possible, please. I think everyone except Earth is here for the weekend, so two sessions.
