November 20, 200520 yr Why does the game have beer, bars, and drunk men? It never made sense to me. Can anyone explain?
November 20, 200520 yr because (and i thank god for this) jagex doesnt think a few pixels shaped to make a glass of beer with the word "beer" attached to it turns kids into murderers like some (notice i said some) people (with SOME american senators being the best example) do.

There's a difference between kids being exposed to beer, and kids being exposed to Doom.

November 20, 200520 yr Who said Runescape was just for kids? This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
November 20, 200520 yr i totally agree... im 24 years old, and i totally agree that pixels with a name of "Asgarnian Ale" have turned me into an alcoholic-for-life... putting the sarcasm aside... if anything like that DOES happen ("but in runescape, alcohol made me stronger too...") you probably deserve a life as being a permanent drunk... I find that offensive. Im american and I do not find that offensive at all. There so many idiotic people in our nation that think games are horrible, one senator tried to ban all video games cause they turned eerybody into murderous people (lol)
November 21, 200520 yr You wanna know what I think... I think that the ESRB should rate Runescape. This would help parents decide if their kid should be playing the game. But just answering the question, beer and ale and gnome cocktales do play a role in this game, but i dont thing it will TOTALLY change a kid into a murderer. Update: I just sent a souport query to the ESRB for a rating to runescape. Hate me if you will, but i just thought it should be done!
November 21, 200520 yr for kids? wow.. the merchanting part of the games owns.. its like real life trading @ forex.. players learn to get sources to get cheap prices for items and re-sale for a profit.. cultivates resourcefulness.. *2 thumbs up* Well, investment as well.. like rares in the game.. and the law of economics kicks in as well.. i dun think its solely for kids.. its for all ages.. and both gender..

I find that offensive. i find that very funney and true we americans think what the media tells us to think and they dont think much ether. if one guy gets atacked by a pitbull then all pits are bloodthirsty killers on a merderous rampage when a kid said life was like a video game all video games told kids to kill. stuff that adults say is not for kids is not gona hert them. many kids under 12 say cuss words just because their moms dont want them to.
November 21, 200520 yr Runescape is aimed at no age group in paticular. Generally, it is suitable for all (yes, even perverted old men living with their mothers). No offense. Why do you resist? November 21, 200520 yr this is my own opinion and flame me if you will but : 1. If, after playing any game, be it Metal gear solid (Snake owns!!!!) or Runescape, you deside to become a steathy murderer (wrong spelling i know) or a drunk then they obviously have some type of problem in the first place if pixels on a screen can bring out a hostile side in you and 2. I really wish that people would stop using Games/films/TV etc as a scapegoat for anything that goes wrong in society, because it is the individuals choise to play/watch the game/tv and also has no one ever heard of age ratings? They are there for a reason, and im sure that if anyone thought that Runesape was bad enough to require an age restriction then there would be one on it by now

I find that offensive. sigh... notice i said some? not most? not all? and it isnt only americans, sorry, i didnt mean to create this impression. ill edit it now. america is just the best example. IMO its just total hypocresy to have a gun shop in your local mall and completely freaking out when theres a rapper saying a bad word on MTV, or a game with beer in it, in this case.

Hate me if you will, but i just thought it should be done! and now runescape will get an 18 year and older rating. thank you. ERSB: "o my god! this game has an item called beer! *shudders* the horror! this wil turn all kids into alcoholics, junkies, and murderers!! waaaaah!! *takes 18 years and older sticker* *complains that the huge stack of 18 years and older stickers is now completely gone* *sticks last 18 years and older sticker on screen*"
November 22, 200520 yr If Jagex intended Runescape to be only for kids they did a very horrible job designing the game to serve this purpose. There are many concepts in Runescape that are simply too complex to be grasped using the lower logic employed by children. Though children are capable of playing Runescape, there is no way that they can achieve the higher level of sucess that older players are capable of.
November 22, 200520 yr lol runescape is not for kids.. wait please define "kids" because if only kids play it then 20 - 40 year olds are kids? us younger people might think we know more about computers then all of our family put together but do you see teenagers and 8 year olds controlling microsoft and sony?

November 22, 200520 yr Spongebob Squarepants anyone? Would you say that thats for kids? Cos i knows its loved by everyone, and there are some jokes in the film that kids just wouldnt get. If runescape wasnt intended for kids(thats not exclusive), then why are there chat censors?
November 22, 200520 yr Author All i'm saying it is open to all ages, yet in the game you have the ability to drink diffrent beers and ales, and even gain stat boosts by doing it. We don't have blood in runescape, and why? Because runescape is for all ages. Now i'm not one of those annoying people (ex. Jack Thompson) who thinks that games corrupt young childrens' minds and all that nonsense. I was just posing this question because I thought it might be interesting to get the diffrent veiws on it from the people on this forum. Also, how's that ESRB rating submission going? It never crossed my mind to do that.
