Sooo, I was wondering how/if I could join this game in its next campaign, as I cant see hide tags and dont want to bother Tech in PMing the maps/rules atm?

Also, the number of red named posters viewing this topic at once is kind of unsettling. Care to explain whats going on? O_o

Well, you just chose a country and get started, really

Talking to Retech first though may be a good idea though, as he has a lot of tips that will stop you getting swallowed up by a hungry Empire builder =P

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Hegemony is a game like no other, nothing can prepare you for it.

Well, I'm looking forward to hopefully joining you guys. There seems to be constant activity here so I dont think I'll find myself dissatisfied. :)

Okay, the bottom line is: I have balanced out the technology so it isn't overpowered.

I have no idea if the technology would even work in real life, but as long as it is somewhat plausible, I can work it in. The creator of the ships wanted them to destroy so and so number of ships as an estimate of its power, so I increased its price (a lot) to compensate. Then I added different strengths and weaknesses in comparison to a normal ship.

Also Icu, who said they were hunger starved.

You had no idea it would work, but let it in? :s

What I'm so annoyed about is that fact that there's some super weapon that can instantly destroy ships in the medieval era, and yet despite the fact that it's been used half a dozen times on me, and the fact that I have some of that tech, I'm still not allowed to know exactly what it is because 'it's secret lolol'.

My system for tech is very simple. There are the "historical" techs and logical improvement techs, and there are the theoretical techs. Historical techs usually bump things up a level, like...making a new kind of plate armor. The effect is quite simple: better armor. Logical improvements would be like Ross' terrapins, where he combined two concepts together.

Theoretical techs, I allow if they are somewhat plausible. They don't usually improve a unit, but changes its strengths and weaknesses. That's basically it. If someone is clever enough to think of a theoretical tech, then I find it logical that someone who is equally clever could think of tactics or weaponary that would counter the theoretical tech.

Also, everything is relatable to price. Seeing how few ships were built, it would stand to reason that they would be prohibitively expensive to build too many. I don't pretend to know everything about this kinda stuff, but if it's not gamebreaking, or if I could make it so it was fair, then I would allow it.

Dusty, it is not to hard to make a weapon stronger than the time's defences. There has never been any sort of hull or armour unimpenetreble by the weapons of the time, the closest thing ever gotten to those are old castles and todays nuclear bunkers.

BTW: Sticking to blaming Archi for using unreasonable means is not a wise thing to do, all you are doing is to vaste time, spam this topic and agitate others.

Point me to some weapon other than nuclear weapons that was/is used to completely destroy a battleship of the technological time period in the span of a second.

Well the ships started sinking and were put out of combat in around a second. Galleys weren't built with triple hulls or fail safes like later period ships.

If it was a pretty big rock...

Anyways, I don't pretend to be an expert in Medieval combat. My expertise comes from various moves and video games, and common sense of course. I do all my calculations before I write the report, meaning that the battle report is my attempt at describing why such and such utterly wrecked such and such (using the modifiers used in the calculations as a guide). So, use the battle report where you can and don't take some descriptions too literally.

Any balistic missile containing more than a few kilograms of conventional or plastic explosives.

Anyways it was never stated that it took a second, only that destruction was inevitable.

Really?

A ballistic missile containing a few kilograms of plastic explosives will destroy this?

You better get on the phone with the US navy's high command, because I have a feeling that this is news to them.

I've had what...30 galleys destroyed so far? And each time they just go 'pop' whenever they are hit.

Thirty galleys to one of the megaships. That is not a bad ratio. Considering I've been proxying admirals because you haven't given them any tactics to work with, that's probaly the best you could hope for.

Dysty, one bar (0.25kg?) of C4 at the right place would sink it, imagine what 10 or maybe 100 kilo would do.

So, you're saying Arch's technology revolves around him sending people over to place this weapon at a specific place on the ship in order to sink it?

And no Mather, that would sink a ship with no crew and a [cabbage]ty hull.

It's kind of hard to give my navy any sort of tactics when the information I get is 'the enemy fleet is...somewhere.'.

That's because I haven't been sent completely updated plans, and an admiral almost never knows the exact location of enemy ships.

Tactics would mean, what the ships would do if they encountered one of these warships.
