Elitist Jerks: Why we DON'T want YOU

Featured Replies

Elitism. Everywhere in Runescape, elitism occurs. Speaking from a point of view of someone who generally has the upper hand in the 130+ bracket, I've complied a few reasons why, unlike most people(who, by the way happen to be lower leveled), think is wrong.

1. Experience. We've all heard that levels don't mean anything, and that intellect>combat levels. While I agree this is true, I don't see why someone can't be both high leveled and experienced. Pick two people off the streets of Runescape. One level 138 and one level 50. Ask them to explain to you how something like lootshare, the GE, or farming circuits work. Ask them which potion boosts herblore in Dungoneering. You'll find that most of the time a higher leveled person has much more intellect and is actually legally playing.

2. Its not right. I think this mainly comes from the illegal community of people under 13. After that I would think you would have realized that life isn't fair.

3. Private Chat: Friends. I don't want someone PMing me about how they need money, or a question they are too lazy to look up. I am the most lazy person in existence. If you won't look it up I won't answer.

Noobs can gtfo now, because I just ran out of prayer potions so I'm going to pay attention to the actual game.

There we go. My rant is done, so bring on the flame. Slayer is boring.

Dungeoneering isn't a skill.

Your title made me think you were going to rant about elitist high level players, but you ranted about noobs.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

Well, your rants are a little contradictory.

"We dont want elitists"

"Noobs gtfo"

HMMMMMMMMMM

O.O

i don't really understand what you're ranting about exactly. but uh... i agree?...

Intelligence has nothing to do with how much information you know about a video game. Intelligence focuses around being able to take information, work with it, and learn from your experiences. Any half-wit with a few hours on his hands could learn what all the potions in Dungeoneering do. You can't take a low leveled person who has neither the time invested nor the levels required to perform a feat, and somehow judge his overall intelligence over a random factoid from a video game.

Also: Age =/= Level. Just because someone is low level doesn't make them a kid. As it turns out, everyone starts out as a low level, and some people don't have the time to get to high levels quickly.

And going off of that intellect bit, intelligence allows you to do things such as, you know, making an OP without sounding like a moron.

Well it makes sense. Using nonexistent evidence to back up a nonexistent point (literally).

And for the record: Slayer is and will always be, the BEST skill ever.

Opinion.

How is slayer even relevant to the topic at hand?

See, when you add that magic phrase "for the record", everything will be relevant no matter what the topic is about.

But really, the OP mentioned that slayer is boring on his last sentence.

"An Amateur practices until he can get it right. A Professional practices until he can't get it wrong."

Quests just keep bringing me back to this game.

Oright.

Slayer is boring.

Its like grinding, only the monsters change shape every now and then.

ELITISM IS ASOCIAL! simple as that, we should strive to be a social being and not act this bad! I'm sick of you elitism people who really really are no lifing -dare I say it- noobs who think they know everything..

Yet have you played since runescape classic? - Do you know [garden tool] the actual prayer system works -and spend countless of hours verifying that this was correct, have you figured out as first person how to beat the gluttonous behemot? - Have you experience with the old pkers trying to kill you while doing abbys runs to get rc 91? Have you experience with castle wars and own a silver set for years? Have you (in the past) helped building scripts to find the best PC worlds? Do you own every barbarian assault item? Have you ever discovered new big dungeons & quests without any guide available anywhere? Have you taken the time to finish difficult riddles, without help of sites like tip.it - and actually providing tip.it with the information you retrieved?

I don't think so, and yes above was something I did do... You probably are a new "az-produkt" only doing something as simple -though admittedly effecient- as possible. Something a simple robot could do equally good, if not better. What did those levels bring you in real experience? And evenso: as I shown in the above combat is only a very small part of runescape's experience, yet you're completely biased towards this..

I don't blame you, I blame the last 2 years of updating all depending -and giving- combat experience.. Ever since the wilderness was removed the majority of the updates were based on combat. This wouldn't be bad, if this stupid "elite" wouldn't force their way on others so much if they want to skill. (dungeoneering a prime example).

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Elitism outside of Dungeoneering is pointless and arrogant.

[/thread]

So if you were lvl 138, would you let a lvl 102 into your bandos team?

Ok, would you take a lvl 102 too poor to afford zspear to corp with you and your 5 man team?

However other then that elitism has no place, a 138 is not any more knowledgeable then your average level 80.

Which is what OP was originally complaining about

No, the OP wasent complaining about anything. Infact he said a 138 is almost certainly more knowledgable than a level 50.

While true, combined with the generally idiotic nature of said OP, as well as the elitism so rampant in his posts, doesnt really give him much credibility.

O.O

Uhm care to explain why it is valid, why should you go for "best experience" or "best profit", instead of "most fun"..

You know it's annoying if people ignore my post, and simply say "it's valid'.

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Not sure what point the OP is going for here, but it does somewhat segway into another obvious point I've noticed. As the game continues to get easier and Jagex finds new ways to hold our collective hand, the disparity between the ambiguous level 50 and level 130+ continues to blur. Going back wow, at least 6, 7 years at this point there was an expectation of maturity, not so much intellect, from higher level players. Sure they were at times difficult to snare into conversation, but you always knew what to expect, and it made sense on most levels.

Now, anyone's guess is as good as mine. Just one example was a level 110 begging for 100gp at a sparsely-occupied bank. Times are definitely changin'

Wow i expected this to die by now.

What my original rant on was ranting at noobs who don't understand elitism. I guess the title was written improperly. What I meant to say was why elitist exist and why noobs should gtfo.

"Warning: If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think every thing you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told to want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned- Tyler"

Yes, it might be inviting insanity to actually try and have a logical conversation.
