July 24, 201015 yr I think there should be a wooden shield spawn somewhere in lumbridge. Just something for newbies to go "oh, cool" and be able to fill the slot. As it is, it's outside the beginner zones in both places. True, but I think Jagex is trying to promote a little exploration here. I know sometimes people don't leave Lumbridge all that soon. But when they hear tales of the almighty wooden shield, they will desire it's power so much that they will not rest until they have looked everywhere in Runescape to find the wooden shield that pulsates awesomeness with every second of being. Or something like that..
July 24, 201015 yr I feel this thread can benefit greatly from this image; 25 minutes lol Owner of a comp cape since February 11th 2012.
July 24, 201015 yr Author I think Mod Ash says 25 minutes because if you actually read everything, and do exactly as the tutorial says, as well as click every clickable option, etc. It could possibly take that long. For players that are simply creating a pure or something, it takes somewhere in the area of 5-10 minutes.

July 24, 201015 yr A quest, to save Tutorial Island from being overrun by pests! Or chaos dwarves! Or Mahjarrat! Kidding aside, now that it's obsolete they can do with it what they did to the old randoms: put some fairy ring to it and disable the gifts. I'd love to visit the ol' church and prayer tutor with my (future) prayer cape. July 24, 201015 yr I'm surprised Ash admitted they brought in "kids" for focus testing. I've never once heard a Jagex employee admit that they aim the game towards children. -------------------------------------------------------------------
July 25, 201015 yr I'm surprised Ash admitted they brought in "kids" for focus testing. I've never once heard a Jagex employee admit that they aim the game towards children. That's not how I took that comment. If you're trying to test a new game tutorial you're not going to bring in a bunch of adults who have common sense and have been playing rs for years... You're going to bring in a group of kids who don't know what they're doing. And you can still get free stuff from shops, can't you? I distinctly remember recently going to the Lumbridge fishing shop and at the top left (I think) there was a button you could push to get a free crayfish crate thingy and small net. Makes sense that other shops in the starter area would have other things to help newer players; all they need to do is bother to explore a bit. It's not hard to figure out what to do in runescape. I mean, the fishing shop is clearly marked on both the world map and the minimap. Buy something that you'd use irl to fish, find a body of water (also marked on the world map) and use one on the other. *All* of the starter skills you can learn in f2p use simple common sense, and I find it hard to believe that anyone would find it hard to work out what to do. We didn't always have helpful map icons everywhere.

Focus testing is not getting experienced players to play the game, focus testing is when you pick up random people and you observe them playing the game. Anyways. If your game is for adults you bring in adults for focus testing. End of. Ash just let the cat out of the bag. -------------------------------------------------------------------
August 9, 201015 yr they should of had an option of either using the tutorial island or the dragon tutorial cant they just merge them together? At least it'll make producing bot accounts a lot harder.i always like getting all my skills i could train at tutorial island to 3, they sould just added that your suppose to go down a hole at the end and then start the dragon tutorial or something like that The once was a mexican called pepsi,Or maybe it's just he had Hep C,He was a pretty cool bro,Bros generally are you know,He hailed from the land of 'taters,He was known to hate many-a-hater,He likes a girl named Lacey,His thoughts about her are kind of racy,And also his dad likes to [rooster].

August 9, 201015 yr I don't remember getting any GP from the tutorial in classic :D Making me feel nostalgic just thinking about it... All I remember is choosing to be a 'warrior' or something like that, and getting a bronze sword and wooden shield.. and in classic I had absolutely no problem killing a few goblins for money to buy a pickaxe/hatchet. 136 Combat, 2290+ Skill Total

A lot of newcomers feel that they should be hand-fed everything now, so I doubt they venture out of the castle courtyard during their first few days of play. But if they had money, they'd probably ask where the shop is, but they don't. So they sit and beg.
