25 Gold In Bank Removed.

Bows

Recommended Posts

I'm sure all of us remember when we first made our accounts and checked out our bank for the first time. It had 25 gold, and that was it. (unless you put things in it right then.) I just received a text from a real life friend who plays Runescape and he told me that they have removed that gold from your bank when you create an account -- as in you don't have anything in there anymore. I understand this isn't a huge deal, but I feel that for new players it can and will be. Any speculation as to why Jagex did this, or any information on when this was even put into effect?

its obviously to counter inflation.

they also removed the ~1k in runes you got at the end of the tutorial.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

I know they removed the runes, along with the fishing net, hammer, pickaxe, hatchet, tinderbox, pot, sword, shield, bow, and arrows. :P

To get the free runes, bow, arrows, and sword you can go to their respective shops and get a free sample.

It really means nothing. Newcomers can get MUCH more money practically without leveling just from the Stronghold of Security and the otherone I can't remember its name.

The Stronghold of Player Safety. Sure they can, after they find out about it. Other than that, they have no idea where to get a pickaxe or hatchet, since I doubt they'll figure out to trade the shop keeper, or go to the top floor of the Lumbridge guard towers for the pick in order to mine and make money.

They've improved the drops for the low-leveled NPCs to drop more food and armour for beginning players. It's possible they removed the "starting" gp and replaced it with armour and food drops valued at more than that if beginning players kill the level 2 spiders, etc. Just a thought.

You could make much more than that killing level 2 men.

When I started playing, I told my friend who introduced me into runescape that he could make millions by simply making multiple accounts for the runes they give you. Oh.. good times.

Anyways, I agree having nothing in your bank may cause new players to feel hopeless. How do they buy the tools to make things with when they have no money to start off with?

That's exactly what I'm saying. I'm glad someone else sees it from my point of view.

In all seriousness, I do think it's very odd. I felt like I had an idea of what to do when I started playing because I was given a pickaxe and a higher mining level (I chose to be a miner ;)). With nothing . . . a brand new player could feel kinda lost.

Not as much as killing Cave Slime, though.

That thread was a joke, so many troll posts, lol. Can we try to keep on topic here though?

Didn't really care much for it anyways. The items you start out with as you leave tutorial is well over preparation imo.

You don't start out with any items anymore.

Well that's BS. <_< It's kind of confusing since Jagex bothered to release skill tutors including the demo mode and all

that other crap. I hardly see a valid reason of removing "start out" items.

Exactly, it's a bit odd. Now when you start out, you literally have nothing. I suppose that's what Roddeck is good for though, telling you how to do things.

I can agree not giving out like 1k runes or anything, but 25gp, bronze pickaxe/hatchet, etc. Isn't a bad thing.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.
[spoiler=The rest of my sig. You know you wanna see it.]

my difinition of noob is i dont like u, either u are better then me or u are worst them me

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Haha in my day we didn't have a tutorial island or knowledge of anything. We just logged in, created a class and we left to go on our way. Only way I survived was with the help of rl friends who managed to find a bank.

I remember andrew saying once that he didn't want to remove peoples fun of earning their full mith for the first time. They then put the 2 strongholds in and for five minutes work you can afford full addy.

Check it out, huge amount of effort has gone into this massive mod!

The thing is, newcomers don't know about those right off the bat. It's usually stumbled upon after a few days of randomly trekking across Runescape until you end up in the Barbarian Village and find your way in, and then if they die they're right back wear they started, but this time without any of the items they may have attained along their walk. I'd quit, personally. I really would hate for that to happen to me.

Roddeck (The player's 'advisor') is a f- failure. Most players tend to skip tutorials as they're dull and most of the basic information you get can be learned through playing the game and using common sense. Therefore, new players don't know they can ask Roddeck for advice on stuff like 'Where do I get a pickaxe?' and then we (The experienced players :shades:) will have to tolerate "Need money/hatchet/pickaxe/other skilling items plzzz"

That's exactly why Jagex should have never gotten rid of the starting supplies or money in the first place.
