Yeah Archi, I'm the randomly occuring AI race. I assume mechanical races can automatically inhabit high temperature and odd atmosphere planets, but I'm not sure.

Also, do I need to post a list of advantages and disadvantages?

Would be helpful.

Mechanical races have higher colonisation costs, equivilant to not having an ideal planet.

Since you need filtered air for cooling, or heating elements for heating, depending on how functional your computers are at any given time.

That...and your inhabitance are constructs.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Well, I can't find one that's specifically aquatic Retech.

It's best if you tell me the approximate desired pressure, temperature (in Kelvins would be nice), resource quantity, and atmosphere.

Higher pressure = better troops and worse trade, and vice versa.

Higher temp affects development costs and maybe certain kinds of construction.

Higher resources = good.

Atmosphere comes in Fluorine, Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide and Trace (ordered from rarest to most common). Fluorine increases industrial output, Oxygen decreases development costs I think, Carbon Dioxide makes the planet immune to EWB (energy weapon bombardment), and Trace benefits trade.

___________

Archi, what habitat would Retech's race inhabit the easiest?

Either Oxygen or Carbon Dioxide (Plant-Jellyfish thingy), with an earth-like temp I think (below 285 Kelvins with it I think). I'll take high pressure.

Resources isn't a big deal since I use kelp, but the more the merrier I guess. ;P

Ookay, here goes.

Advantages:

Largely temperature resistant

Does not breath (Atmosphere doesn't matter)

Metal bodied (Harder to kill)

Lower moral effects (They weren't created, so were never given anything resembling emotion. I guess it developed to a limited extent, but not much)

Purely logic abiding (Efficiency increase I suppose)

Semi-Hivemind (A few AIs, but each one controls a lot of individuals as an extension of themselves. I guess each AI would be allocated it's own settlement)

Technologically advanced (Better at learning to use technology and any effects which come with that)

Disease resistant (Mechanical body)

Disadvantages:

Higher average colonisation costs (As stated above)

Semi-Hivemind (If one AI rebels, the entire settlement does.)

Lower moral effects (No glorious war speeches rallying troops to victory)

EMP vulnerability

New settlements need a new AI

If you want to add/take away from that list, go right ahead Archi.

When he means troop strength, is that how effective troops are or how muscular they are? Like would it matter for a psionic race?

Mine don't count as mechanical right? Since each nanite does neither contain heating or moving parts.

I don't know why, but I find that extremely funny. Maybe I should see a Psychiatrist.

Gravity affects trade a troop strength, not pressure. Pressure isn't even a statistic.

@ Ross, wouldn't explosive weapons do more damage? Shockwaves messing up circuits and such?

I'm saying pressure in place of gravity. Basically, both refer to the amount of weight pushing against the resident species.

When he means troop strength, is that how effective troops are or how muscular they are? Like would it matter for a psionic race?

I would assume physical strength and resilience, I'm not sure what other benefits high pressure would have.

and I would imagine those nanites of yours need something to fuel them

Oh dear god no, Ross!

Mather shall use his nabadaquah, the metal which creates energy by simply sitting still!!

Wait so if they are so tiny... doesn't that mean that they can be easily smashed!?!?! I'll give you three guesses to guess what I'm thinking (I'll give you a hint it starts with a "W")

Oh Archi, there was something you might have missed. Since they're plants with no vital organs except the brain, they should have high resistance to ballistics (being riddled with bullets is probaly less damaging for a plant than a human) and low resistance to energy weapons? So if we use 5 as average resistance on a scale from 0-10, the Lichten "slightly increased resistance" would be a 6, with ballistic weapons as 8 and energy weapons as 4? (Arbitrary numbers, but it helps explain)

Lol and my race can be killed by stepping on them, it doesn't matter; I'm tactically better than Mather.

Also, Mather's race litterally can't touch my race without his race falling to bits lol.

Well my main point was for combat. If you could imagine any James Bond movie where the bad guy is riddled with bullets and falls to the ground, the plants would probaly lose a few "limbs". It would probaly be able to keep on fighting for a while, until it collapsed eventually from structural breach.

To that end, the main method of combat against each other (Lichten on Lichten) would be the use of Jellyfish tentacle whips, which are basically kelp strands with little tentacles attached. A highly effective melee weapon and torture device, causing almost instantaneous paralysis and excruciating pain.

Huzzah?

I'm starting to like my race more and more, whereas Mather's is just annoying me again thanks to this arguing.

Ross, theoretically your race and mine could function as symbiotes of a sort... It would increase both your durability and my firepower if mechanical components like weapons could be built into the exoshell...
