If I remember correctly (nex can correct me if I'm wrong) nex is playing as the daeka (a race of humaniods that can manipulate their bodies [ie change form] to very likely create organic weapons or some [cabbage] like that). I don't know how powerful psykers they are (easier to type out that psionic creatures).

I had sort of reasoned that bit.

However it is like me saying External, Plasma CPUs/Harddrives/AIs.

 

It doesn't explain how something which is effectively mindless and nerveless would produce a computer.

bacteria ~ cells. Cells comunicate, as do bacteria. Brain = comunicating cells = computer. Bacteria + collective + gene manipulation = brain = computer.

 

Anyways the bacteria would not need any internal software imbeded in their genes, only "blank" sheets, the software would just be in a CD which allowed you to use the bacteria unit as CPU/GPU. As for intelligence what we lack in computers are multiple, comunicating prossessors.

Basing your argument on one strand is kinda flawed.

 

Dogs ~ Cats. Cats have four legs, as do Dogs. Dogs = Four legs with tail and whiskers = Cat. Cat + Cat + Gestation = Cat = Dog.

 

 

Therefore I can use a Dog to make a Cat.

Humanoid Plant Creatures, capable of forming and deforming a resin-like exoskeleton to walk on land, though they cannot feed in this state and lose much of their strength. Underwater, they pump huge amounts of water through osmosis to push their limbs one way or another, allowing them to lift decently heavy objects. The males have much larger pores and a greater surface area, allowing for greater strength, but the size of their pores allows large particles inside. Male pores are less developed than female pores, meaning males are far more succeptable to pathogens and chemical pollutants (below average) while females are less succeptable (above average).

The inflated limbs could explode under too much strain, but the same is true of human muscle...only difference is that a human muscle wouldn't explode the skin away...

 

The Lichtens were created by an unknown alien empire, splicing the genes of the native super-intelligent, psionic jelly fish and the resinous kelp invasive species, which swayed in and against the currents through the osmosis in order to manuever to the best position for mating and nutrient gathering, to create a breed of super soldiers. They also inserted several genes to limit the psionic and intelligent capabilities of the jellyfish, as they only intended the intelligence for basic functions. The supressed brain power went into the sub-conscious and created a strong kelp-warrior with fast reflexes, the Lichten male.

It would be considerably easier to just disconnect those pathways in the brain, rather than suppressing them using genetics.

 

Unfortunately, as the alien empire waned and the jellyfish went extinct (the aliens had strong anti-psionic capabilities and technologies), a few of the remaining Lichten males began having mutations, blocking the effects of the [developmentally delayed]ing gene. These became Lichten females, which soon dominated the rest of the Lichtens. As all Lichtens released spores, only some with the "female" gene became part of the ruling class.

The link between brains and genitalia is yet to be proved...

 

 

A much simpler explaination is that males developed along an intellectual line, females developed along a psionic line.

Females use their psionic ability to control the males and use their mental capacity as their own, making the males dumb.

 

Females force the males to work out, hunt and such, instead of read and research...Since the females can do that and use the male brains as dumping grounds for memories and such.

Meaning that, even though they are capable of intelligence, the males remain dumb.

Would also explain why the females had above average IQs...

Check, instictively they still have their intelligence, but can't access it consciencously.

They are enforced omnivores...not really a disadvantage.

Males and females aren't actually different sexes. They reproduce sexually, but it can be between any two members of the species. It's more of a caste system, but seemed easier to explain through genders.

 

 

As for simple weapons, I mean like "push the red button and point at enemy." Males couldn't operate more complicated machinery and such. No battleships for them!

Using genders as caste systems is just adding confusion...

Breeding two distinct castes is gonna take alot of inbreeding, so your race would have a tonne of defects.

A magic gene that causes intelligence of 900% average, a much weaker structure and practically a different speices....

Result of a war with a powerful psionic entity that split the race from their brown orgins.

Retech I propose a non agression pact in this game; If we were to both invade a planet the orkz would get the land masses and the lichtens would get the seas. Needless to say all native life would probably be exterminated. Also to add a bit of fluff to my race (it AFFECTS NOTHING (and the orkz probably wouldn't care)) is that the orkz evolved from a biological weapon created by a mysterious and long dead race for their wars.

And people can inhabit any planet, developments are customisable, so temperature and such can be set lower or higher than outside...it just costs more.
