The_Mather1
Ross, I believe there are at least 900 billion natural computers on earth, they're called brains. Twitter: @TheMather1
Iconic
Organic computers could form naturally if the only way to survive would be by intellegence, now just imagine it started from a silicone based lifeform. Archi, I want to have a pretty straight forward race but even though I am the weakest race in game I'd like to have a psionic bio-dampener around the brain of my race, this blocks psioenergy, could this happen naturally if a psionic jellivore was present on the zygon home planet? This will also mean that I can't psionically attack. My race is going to be able to eject it's brain out of it's body by changing tension, this will rip all the nerves off but give the brain legs so it can crawl away. Lol. Seraphi
No Mather, I mean a computer in the sense one would use it normally. I'm just imagining a near dead, rocky world, where a computer formed completely by chance and starting there.
archimage_a
Hmmmm. If an electronic computer was gonna evolve naturally then you would be looking at Starfish like evolution. That being that each arm has an independent network of nerves, the only reason they are linked together is that they meet at a mouth...Thus you get multiple brains, with multiple personalities, working together. Thus, supposing that the beings evolved on a planet with high copper or silver(Low resistivity to current) deposits, they could have used the silver/copper as Skeletons and Nerves...Then, over time, random genetic mutations within the independant networks developed into operating systems...They could then combine into larger organisms by merging nerve conductors...since the different arms have different systems, the race would be more or less capable of doing this. They would be analogue computers though, so directly interfacing with digital computers would required a converter. [/random thought] http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Seraphi
Sort of, but I was thinking that the god-only-knows-what:1 chance of a digital computer capable of running the AI which formed despite [big number]:1 chance formed naturally, without the process of evolution cutting in at all, on a rocky planet, and had nothing to do but improve itself, leading (After a hell of a long time) to a single, supermassive, globe-spanning computer. Would that be reasonably viable as a race? I know it isn't scientifically viable, but game-wise.
archimage_a
No globle spanning super computers...or if they are then they need multiple personalities. Having one super computer would mean you were playing Dungeoneering while everyone else was playing Hegemony. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. Seraphi
Alright then... Processes which develop slowly into full AIs which do not fall under control of the original. Multiple personalities, check.

Nexaduro
Hyper intelligent...? I think that would be negated by sub-par leadership. As far as I know, no-one has chosen a race that serves that explicit role. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? Grim_
I have a race of hyper unintelligent creatures currently (Though they may be heavily psionic but don't realize it [depending upon arch's verdict about an idea I proposed])
Seraphi
Ork guns only fire because they believe they will. Otherwise, they're just gun-shaped pieces of scrap completely unusable by anyone else. And their vehicles go faster when painted red because they think red is faster.

I know it isn't scientifically viable, but game-wise.That would have to be bacterial, seeing how rock can't move, thus the inteligence would be natural, not artificial ans thus you have a brain, a bacterial brain. But thanks for saying that idead though, using bacteria to create computer accessories would result in extremely powerfull computing capabillities as well as revolutionizing AI (because the I would be arctificially produced) with physical memory storage as well as allowing software completely focused on autonomous computer inmprovements. Seraphi
The planet could be really windy, and tiny pieces of metal could end up in the right places at the right time. Chances are nigh impossible, but hey, that's the entire point of the race.

Rocco, they are nanite androids, composite humanoids made from billions if not trillions of cell-sized banobots. Yeah and making bacterial units would be anything but time consuming, since bacteria can multiply. Twitter: @TheMather1

Grim_
If I remember correctly (nex can correct me if I'm wrong) nex is playing as the daeka (a race of humaniods that can manipulate their bodies [ie change form] to very likely create organic weapons or some [cabbage] like that). I don't know how powerful psykers they are (easier to type out that psionic creatures).
Retech
Okay, I am changing my race around. Humanoid Plant Creatures, capable of forming and deforming a resin-like exoskeleton to walk on land, though they cannot feed in this state and lose much of their strength. Underwater, they pump huge amounts of water through osmosis to push their limbs one way or another, allowing them to lift decently heavy objects. The males have much larger pores and a greater surface area, allowing for greater strength, but the size of their pores allows large particles inside. Male pores are less developed than female pores, meaning males are far more succeptable to pathogens and chemical pollutants (below average) while females are less succeptable (above average). The Lichtens were created by an unknown alien empire, splicing the genes of the native super-intelligent, psionic jelly fish and the resinous kelp invasive species, which swayed in and against the currents through the osmosis in order to manuever to the best position for mating and nutrient gathering, to create a breed of super soldiers. They also inserted several genes to limit the psionic and intelligent capabilities of the jellyfish, as they only intended the intelligence for basic functions. The supressed brain power went into the sub-conscious and created a strong kelp-warrior with fast reflexes, the Lichten male. Unfortunately, as the alien empire waned and the jellyfish went extinct (the aliens had strong anti-psionic capabilities and technologies), a few of the remaining Lichten males began having mutations, blocking the effects of the [developmentally delayed]ing gene. These became Lichten females, which soon dominated the rest of the Lichtens. As all Lichtens released spores, only some with the "female" gene became part of the ruling class. Recently, the Lichtens have expanded beyond their ocean homes and made settlements on land, primarily using exosuits to move around. The exosuits are primarily used simply to move instead of super strength, and protect vital areas. Advantages Lichten females are strongly psionic and above average in intelligence (IQ 130 or so for average, much degraded from the jellyfish because artificial selection didn't favor intelligence after the race was formed) Lichten females have above average resistance to pathogens, chemicals, and pollutants. As plant-jellyfish, their only vital organ is their brain (which happens to look like a jellyfish). Lichten males are relatively strong and have fast reflexes Lichtens use kelp architecture (same as before) Lichten bioships carry 25% more of everything and Lichtens can deploy 25% more soldiers per development (2500 instead of 2000) Disadvantages Lichtens aren't very strong on average. Lichten males are succeptable to psionic attacks. Must consume both nutrients from water/soil and live animals (for kelp and carnivorous jellyfish). Lichten bioships must be upgraded in their own line, rather slowly. Lichten shipbuilders cannot use other materials effectively. Lichtens use kelp architecture Males are succeptable to pollutants and pathogens Lichtens use rather simple weaponary ----- For the history of the jellyfish, they formed large societies to hunt much larger creatures. An example would be to overpower the mind of a dolphin group to confuse it, before moving in a ring pattern to surround and sting. Master of your domain?
