"Always a possiblity, Ares. The druids are always up to something."

 

Kemios pulls out some tomes from a large bookstack, before laying them out on the table. After reading through the passages and showing Ares the hand movements, he quickly gets up and opens the door. "That is all the time we have for today. Remember to make a quick motion when creating a loud cracking noise when snapping the air, smooth motions when gathering a gust of wind, and to keep your fingers next to each other when making a sudden compression."

A guard shouts at you before you leave, "Don't you know that you can't find a druid in her home unless you have some damn good magic, or she wants to be found?"

 

 

The druid is nowhere to be found.

 

-Rocco

 

"The reward will have to wait until we catch this person and can prove what you are saying is true, but thank you. Our city has nothing under it, except cobblestones and dirt. How would the druid get under the city?"

[Jehosaphat]

Theros mutters, "Well, crap. Guess I'll have to find something else to do with my time...." and then wanders around the peasant quarter for a bit, looking for anything interesting or unusual.

[Seraphi]

Ares grabs a piece of blank paper from nearby, folds it into an Aeroplane, goes outside, and tries to keep it aloft to try out his newfound knowledge.

"Certainly not. Either we go without running water, or the wizards conjure it!"

 

-Pieis

 

There is a festival in town, and the peasantry have been dancing to some lively music. Theros notices that some of the cobbles from the street have come loose.

 

-Ross

 

Ares launches the paper aeroplane and keeps it sailing for quite a distance into the sky, until the magic can no longer reach so far, and the paper glides back down to the ground.

Theros pulls one of the loose cobblestones up and looks at where it had been before he removed it.

Ares goes and asks Kemios if there is anything that needs doing, gathering magical ingredients, etc, being unable to deal with the druid for the time being.

What are the wizards here teaching? And would I be able to learn enchanting or magical construction, such as that of golems, here or in Brinefir? Are there any musical tutours?

The only thing under the cobblestone is wet and smelly dirt. Theros can't tell if the smell comes from beneath or the peasants above.

"There is nothing that I need for now. Maybe you'd find the festival in the peasant's quarter enjoyable?"

 

-Nex

 

"We teach the arts of shaping and gathering arcane energy from the air. What kind of enchantments are you referring to? The time of golems is long past. Perhaps you'd be able to find someone able to teach you, but they haven't been needed for centuries."

[Jehosaphat]

Theros digs around in the wet and smelly dirt with his finger, then goes out into the forest and practices walljumping off trees.

What about Earth and Metal magics? I have had some... unfortunate run-ins with Allomancers in the past. The memories are a bit cloudy, though. Are there any musicians here who could gauge and help me improve my talents.

Ares heads to said festival.

[Earth]

i accept, and give him the kelp for the money. i then head outside and look to see if any healers need aprentices now.

I look at my surroundings.

While Theros begins his digging, Ares enters the festival ground in the peasant's quarter. The music is rather loud, and it only grows louder as more of the peasants begin their dancing. Soon the musicians are playing as loud as they can, and the ground is shaken by the peasant's stomping. After a minute of the dancing, the ground begins sagging, though in their bustle and drunken revelry, the peasants don't notice.

"If you mean earth as in rock and dirt, then we have some of the teachers here. Otherwise, you'd have to go into the forest and find a druid to teach you about nature. Metal magic is simply unheard of. What would the use of changing metals would be if you had a decent smith? There are certainly musicians in the peasant's quarter."

The healers still don't need any apprentices. The clerics are always willing to take on new apprentices, as long as they were trained in theology as well.

The town wall is on one side, a swamp on another, and forest on the rest of the sides.

(I thought you were talking to other players :P)

 

"What you described seem to be dire rats. They are capable of being the size of a pig, and can probaly kill someone. It wouldn't be likely for them to live in the town though. There have been no sightings."

Ares quickly runs and jumps to the side, where the ground is more stable, before yelling at those nearest him to do the same.

[Jehosaphat]

Theros steps back, muttering, "What the hell....?" He then runs to get a guard, walljumping to avoid collapsing roads if necessary.

"Druids only come on occasional errands, usually to meet old friends, but none ever stay for long."

Ares manages to reach the edge of the square. Theros finds a guard just outside the square, overseeing the festivities. The center of the square caves in, creating a hole around six feet in diameter. A dozen people have fallen in, while the rest begin to panic. In the process of running away, two more people fall into the hole.

To the peasants quarter, asking (writing) around for a music teacher!

[Jehosaphat]

Theros tries to see what's inside the hole.

[Ieyfura]

Ieyfura nodded awake, feeling dizzy from hunger, she searches for a more run down food court, perfectly willing to sacrifice quality for affordable food.

[Retech]

"Indeed, there are caves in the area. The town of Steinfir is only twenty miles away. If you take the road towards Brinefir then take a right at the intersection before you reach Brinefir, then you should begin to see a hilly area with many caves."

 

Rocco arrives in the peasant's square.

 

-Nex

 

The peasant's square is filled with commotion and Nex is unable to enter it.

 

-Theros

 

Aside from the pile of people and bodies, there appears to be a small pile of cobblestone fragments, surrounded by murky water.

There appears to be a small food stall selling a loaf of bread for only two copper pieces.

Theros goes and asks the guard what he should do.

[Seraphi]

Ares tries to climb onto a nearby building to get a vantage point in case anything comes out of the hole, and tries to get a clear view. He tries to use wind to push people away from the whole while they are running away.

I walk forward into the forest.

[Retech]

The guard merely shrugs nonchalantly. "I haven't been trained in the art of patching giant sinkholes in the floor. Your guess is as good as mine."

 

-Ares

 

The hole seems quite deep and nothing comes out. Using wind, Ares manages to save two more peasants from falling into the hole.

Everyone seems to be fleeing from the square already. After notching an arrow, Rocco looks into the hole. It seems about fifteen feet down, and he is unsure whether it is safe to jump down.

Edel encounters a wild boar several feet ahead, eating near a tree.
