Move out of my parent's home, but before that can happen, get the balls to be more social.

I'd also like to go to an Anime convention.

In the near future get a paper or 2 out on the research I'm carrying out.

In the next year, complete my degree with at least a 2:1.

In the next 2 years, get a job or a PhD placement.

In 6 years, have a good job, be completely financially dependant and live in a kick ass place.

I'm not interested in fame, wealth, or a specific career. My love life is already settled and I'm only 19. There's no skillful feats or achievements I'd want to partake in. Instead, I'd just want to make a mark on society that I'm happy with. A band I'm happy with, a movie I'm happy with, and a video game I'm happy with. I know they are all leaning towards the entertainment side of the spectrum, and that might seem like a trivial part of life, but music and movies (and sometimes even video games) have actually really helped develop my character. In fact, I'd even go as far as saying they're some of the most influential things in the world to a person. They are all great mediums for making a positive change with society. I might even plant a few subliminal messages here and there too.

I've decided that I'm going to start a hardcore band. Or become a rapper. Not like seriously for either, but for fun. Only problem is I have very minimal musical skills. So I guess my real goal is to work on that.

I used to think having goals was stupid and pointless. I mean, all I would do is set unrealistic goals that would be bring me to the brink of death even before completion. Well, it turns out I've reached those goals after one semester of university - I will start doing actual research (i.e. publishing articles, pushing the boundaries of science) in my very first year of undergrad. Another unthinkable I conquered : downing 4 irish car bombs within 10 minutes (it was around that long) and not puking all over the partygoers (the highscore was held by a 300 pound man who didn't after three). And finally, the cherry on top; I "got" my friends' ex-girlfriend who I'd been oggling for the past two years and I'm still best friends with the guy. Back in the day we could have cut "the" tension with a butter knife.

So all in all I've completed all the goals I had set for the foreseeable future (actually I failed to "get" a girl in my biology class last semester but I can only restart my campaign when uni starts again so it doesn't count). I now have a solid four years to throw my life away by drinking copiously and playing too many video games... I'm not sure if it's the alcohol talking but I feel like I have a largely untapped potential pond deep within me that makes me awesome at everything I put the hours into, which is probably definitely why I accomplish so much.

Warning: the previous post was very long and boring and should not have been read by anyone who respects him or herself even a teency bit.

I don't know why or how, but your post just motivated me a whole lot

Short term:

- Finish the game I'm programming right now

- Enjoy the last day of vacation (it's tomorrow :( )

Long term:

- Learn Japanese (I've already started)

- Create the best game ever (or at least a very good one)

- Move to another country

- Learn to draw well

- Learn to play guitar or something

Very, very long term:

- Create a successful fantasy series. I'm planning to create at least games and comics. I'm a huuuuuuuge fantasy fan. My favorite music changes often, so do games, animes and other things but fantasy has always been there. And by fantasy I mean something which has swords, magic and dragons. :)
