Best way to kill Har'lak the Riftsplitter?

Featured Replies

Up to this point I have not been on a team where I had to fight Har'lak the Riftsplitter. But he is to me the toughest boss by far, and I'm not counting the Night-Gazer, Shadow Forger or Bal'lak since I haven't fought them yet.

He summons showers that deal damage, poison, and lower your stats. My problem is that I cannot hit him, and I've used Melee, Magic and Ranged. Ancients is the only thing I haven't tried with Mage, Ranged doesn't seem to be effective, and I cannot hit him well with Melee. I deal a blow every now and then, but it takes me an average of 2-4 kills before I finally put him down. By then I get a big penalty for the number of deaths I've racked up.

Unless Rune Tip It recommends that I use Ancients, Mage is highly uneffective. I was able to kill Rammernaut easily with Mage, not so with Har'lak.

What is the best strategy, and what melee weapon should I use?

Always meleed him no problem. Stab I believe was the best option for him, was a while ago I solo'd him though. Make sure to bring a ton of anti-poisons or cure runes, that poison WILL use up your food fast if you leave it on you. Also be fast at moving from the floor effects.

Yeah stab tears him up, annoying if you're trying to solo with a 2h.

He's one of the fastest bosses around if you have a spear, just bring a few antis/cures. If you have SS you'll rarely need food, but even if you don't, you shouldn't use too much.

Yeah, I got confused because Tip It's Dungeoneering guide said that Har'lak is weak to Magic. I think that's wrong.

So a rapier along with stat restores and cure poison potions is the best solution?

Don't Demons generally have epic defence against Magic?

Otherwise, stay focused, run from floor attacks, stab and hope for the best.

Stab is the way to go, a Cure potion gets rid of the poison.

I found magic very good against him, that is if you have some kind of mage armor and a strong mage potion. Will be slower than stabbing him to death but being out of melee reach gives way more time to react to the portals.

Riftspitter has high melee defence, mage works best against him.

I realized that and then I had to turn on Leech Defense in order to hit him.

Demons generally have epically low magic defence.

What I do: straight-up melee him and run a few steps after each hit. Have one mage run around the room, using the fortresses to hide, casting one spell on each corner.

Yeah... I just stand there and melee him with spear. I move when he uses a portal attack. I don't use antipoison.

Cure Group Poison is infinitly helpful.

Dungeoneering isn't a skill.

I'm faster than bots at Sorceress Garden.

PM me if you want to chat. My PM is always off.

My keyboard is on fire. Want some?

When in Groups, I always Fire Surge him with Blitzer on, and use Cures on other people in the team. I honestly rarely miss him. Are you wearing melee Armour while maging him?

When Solo, I would just turmoil and mage pray, and slash with my 2h. I've never had trouble with Har'rlak.
