September 2, 201015 yr Hello all! I have a question which is the best herb to farm for money? I feel like ranarr are the fastest and most profitable, but I'm unsure of this. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks in advance!- Electro __________________________________________________"Won't get fooled again."-The Who
September 2, 201015 yr Avantoes are more profitable and give more exp than ranarrs, but the best are snaps/dwarf weed/torstol with a Scroll of Life. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22 99 Necromancy since 11/22/25 Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 33 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 10 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots
September 2, 201015 yr It changes on a regular basis as prices fluctuate. Avantoe and snapdragon are usually safe bets; that's what I farm. Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP
September 2, 201015 yr I don't think your ever going to not profit unless you hit a string of really bad luck. But Ranarrs, avatoe, snaps, dwarf, then torstol are all very good more or less in that order. September 2, 201015 yr Torstol with scroll of life is the best. How to Chin Nechyraels for fast XP and profit
September 2, 201015 yr Toadflax and irit are also very good, because of their low seed prices. However the herbs themselves still maintain a high price. September 2, 201015 yr I personally prefer Toadflax. One seed costs 1,464 gp, while each Clean toadflax costs 5,159. Assuming that the herb doesn't die and you get the minimum amount of 5 herbs, that's a total profit of 24,331 gp per seed.

Also, if you have a scroll of life, you'll get about 30k per run back, vs. 700 gp for toadflax. 45*5+30=255k average profit per run. September 2, 201015 yr They buy/sell well enough that you can buy the seeds for one run with the earnings of the other. There really is no reason not to farm snaps if you have 68-84 farming. September 2, 201015 yr I like a torstol/avantoe mix myself. Avantoe has a nice average gp gain, and torstol is nice when you're pulling up a decent amount of herbs, or scroll of life some free seeds. I usually just throw a torstol in My Arm's patch, and avantoe in the rest. Then any deaths are no loss, and the torstol will either pay for itself, or give me a [cabbage] load of profit. The past 2 runs in a row I've gotten torstol seeds back from that one patch, so that was nice. PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape
September 2, 201015 yr Yesterday during the update I finished a farming run, played until the update logged me off. When I came back I found all 4 herb patches are dead. Is this normal?
September 2, 201015 yr All four patches being dead happens about once per 2000 herb runs :S How to Chin Nechyraels for fast XP and profit
September 2, 201015 yr I've never had 2 dead at once more than twice and never had three dead. At least it was only avantoe.
September 2, 201015 yr All four patches being dead happens about once per 2000 herb runs :SActually, it's more like 1/10000. Even 3/4 being dead is around 1/280 chance(happent to be twice). And the answer the question, torstol is by far the best with scroll of life. It's also by far the best xp. First to 99 Farming on 27. September, 2005.First to 3766 Port Score on 20. Assuming independence of patches (reasonable), the chance of all 4 being dead is 0.15^4, which is 0.00050625, or approximately 1:2000 :P (1:10000 implies a 10% death rate, which I am 95% confident is not the true proportion.) September 2, 201015 yr 10% death rate is widely considered the true deathrate of all plants in the game(apart from ivy). First to 99 Farming on 27. September, 2005.First to 3766 Port Score on 20. March, 2014.First to 4664 Port Score on 2. March, 2015.
September 2, 201015 yr Remember your chance of death rate goes up more if you do multiple logging while you farm. Which is where you get the 12-15 percent.
September 2, 201015 yr 10% death rate is widely considered the true deathrate of all plants in the game(apart from ivy).Once I get a bit more data I will post it and show you that you are wrong :P 10% is close and works fine for estimation, but it's not the true proportion. September 2, 201015 yr Data was primarily to investigate the distribution of yields. Data currently suggests a nearly normal distribution with mean 7.8 and standard deviation 2.1 for living patches. How to Chin Nechyraels for fast XP and profit
