Training str and magic (while slaying)

Hi everyone!

I'm gonna hit my long term goal of ranged 99 today and slayer 93 here pretty soon as well. Now my next thing is probably going maxxed while slaying, but my question would be how to train str while slaying, because as you can see in my stats I am indeed a big str noob and I should probably get it up to speed up my training both in slayer and othe rcomb stats. My 2 main ideas would be to: 1) Dharok everything I can 2) dragon scimmy and piety to speed things up.

But like I said, I dont know anything about training only str, so i need your help. (btw, not going to lvl dungeoneering any time soon so no rapiers for me and I also dont do quests, only at 168 QP)

Thnx you guys! All help would be highly appreciated.

As for strength training: use a SS for your melee slayer tasks.

Mage metal dragon tasks, as for quickest magic training you can consider bursting at rock lobsters if you want to level summoning in a later time as well.

Alch in between swings while slaying. Pretty much the only time alching is useful, for multitasking.

You've got fairly balanced combat stats, why specifically train strength? Training on controlled and powerslaying you'll still hit max melee before 99 slayer. An SS is inferior to a whip+defender, and that's the only realistic option (dharoking is subpar for slayer due to slayer helm bonuses, and a scimmy just plain sucks).

Doing slayer without trying to mage tasks, and then barraging later would be faster. Only a few tasks are good for maging, and only one I can think of is actually faster than melee.

What'd you mean that is faster? The only one I can think of is metal dragons, are there any else that are about the same speed - I am saving effies for slayer (10 banked atm) so by the time I hit maxed I'll prob be pretty close to 98 or atleast 97 slayer.

Ok, so no use for dharok's anymore, so selling my helm and stuff and getting an Saradomin Sword, btw if I get an SS, is there any use for my ZS?

ALching between hits sounds good, but too much concentration required, might try that, will see.

Thansk for the info guys, any more input would be greatly appreciated. :)

i did what u are about to do but it's been a while, so i dont really know if its still up-to-date..

it of course depends on the task. low/mid lvl monsters i would use a dragon scimmy on, or an SS. i don't really like dharoks and in my opinion your xp will be faster with a scim, since it hits faster as a dh and if you use pots (s.Att and s.Str) u'll get good xp.

any high lvl monsters with safespots i would just cast magic spells. depending on the amount of runes u have fire blasts or bolts or waves... i did most with blasts. drags and blk demons and greaters and stuff (in the cage..).

once u get bored of slaying or want a break use the spell "string jewellery" of lunar magics. buy gold amulets (unstrung of course) and the runes. the xp is insane. and with 1 click u string the whole inventory, so its partially afk.

Definitely use a Sara Sword for waterfiend tasks. If you dungeoneer, you could get a chaotic rapier. Otherwise, you're probably better off with a whip on controlled most of the time.

As for magic, ice strykes are worth maging, but not much else.

Strength through slayer is basically your usual slayer setup with a saradomin sword instead of a whip + defender. On higher-levelled dragon tasks, you could use a leaf-bladed sword, which can train strength; on lower-levelled tasks which require a shield I'd just go for a whip.

Magic through slayer is: sol, arcstream, fsh, ahrim's (3rd age, dagon'hai), general mage-boosting gear and safespot. You can tank weaker monsters (only in ahrim's, since it has melee defence, even more than armadyl iirc) with a decent shield. Metal dragons (except mithrils, I think) and all demons are weak to magic, and many other tasks are mageable.

For strength xp, I'd do armoured zombies (void + salve + ss). For magic xp, barrage lobsters. For slayer xp, whip + piety + cannon

Just a side note, I'd get 70 prayer asap, as well.

I hadn't even noticed: THIS IS IMPORTANT. 70 prayer > bandos/gs/dfs (although those last two suck anyways).

thnx for the input everyone! Yeah, I'll finally get my prayer 70 as soon as I hit slayer 93 (83k left), the reason I haven't yet is that I gotta do [cabbage]load of quests to actually piety anyway D and I am nota big fan of them.

SO the thing I am leaning towards now is that until I actually get my hebr up to 85 for sup antifre, I can sell my ZS, get an SS and bury as much cash as I have into prayer. Do the frikin quests, get a fire cape and keep on going with slayer. And use my SS on tasks like waterfiends. I probably will not mage then while slaying, just gonna buy stuff for bursting/Barraging, anything else I should burst-barrage except lobs? That would be about the same or even better xp.

Hey, quick question, how is SS better in waterfiends than ZS, when ZS has higher crush? Is it quicker or what. because I havent sold my ZS yet, thinking if I should or not

They are both the same speed.

Quests just keep bringing me back to this game.

They are both the same speed.

And the ss has a higher strength bonus, and a higher total attack + strength bonus (3 less atk, 7 more str iirc).

You wouldn't be able to tell just by looking, but testing shows a superior performance by the SS. Example of such a test

You can probably reproduce the results for yourself if you care enough to try. *shrug*

It's also worth noting that the SS has an aggressive crush option while the ZS is controlled. Strength xp is normally valued higher than controlled xp, so there's another advantage to the SS.
