September 12, 201015 yr Hi all. I've gone off and purchased 40k gold ore and was just about ready to start smelting with gauntlets at the ready when i thought "surely there's a better way?!" Any thoughts of a faster way of smithing a similar amount of xp without spending much more on this? Aiming to get to lvl 88 or so as that will put most of the elite diaries within reach with a helpful stew or two. Thanks!
September 12, 201015 yr a faster way of smithing a similar amount of xp without spending much more on this?Regretfully, there is none, which may be why it's such a common method. You could superheat while smelting for some nice magic and additional smithing xp though. EDIT: Isn't connondrum with one n? Conondrum? September 13, 201015 yr I'd prefer superheating, since you get the magic xp too. Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP
September 13, 201015 yr Author sounds like superheating it should be then...40k of them urk. on spelling, you're right - should be no double 'n' but pretty sure the 'u' is right. Thanks for all your thoughts!
September 13, 201015 yr last time i checked (and it was awhile ago, so this may have changed) smithing and smelthing mithril bolts (and adding feathers) at blast furnace with sc hammers was break even-small profit and is pretty decent xp. It's not break even after factoring in the opportunity cost of getting the SC hammers. Only worth it if you are one of those people who REALLY loves stealing creation. PM me in game anytime It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet. That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.
September 13, 201015 yr Agreed, the time spent getting hammers could be spent gaining 500k-1 mil an hour, actually making it a worse option that buying the best best bars possible. Remember time equals money. My lame drops:6 Effigys1 D Med - 1 D Dagger1 Verac's Helmet - 1 Guthan's Platebody

Remember time equals money. Yes, but FUN equals money too  Personally I love playing sc and spawn camping the other team. I skill till I have around 50k score, and then spawn trap. Of course, if anyone tries stealing my team's resources while I'm getting points I'm ready to defend. 23-24 sc points every 25ish minutes is worth it for me because its fun
September 14, 201015 yr Why not smelt AND superheat? it's both cheaper and faster xp than just superheating. First to 99 Farming on 27. September, 2005.First to 3766 Port Score on 20. March, 2014.First to 4664 Port Score on 2. March, 2015.
September 14, 201015 yr Author Why not smelt AND superheat? it's both cheaper and faster xp than just superheating. Apologies for my ignorance but i'm not sure i understand how you combine. Can you elaborate? I quite like Blastfurnance but it does take forever and frankly smithing is a means to an end for me, not an end in itself!

I quite like Blastfurnance but it does take forever and frankly smithing is a means to an end for me, not an end in itself! You take out a load of gold ore, superheat some ore while running to the furnace, click to smelt all ore on the furnace, and while you are smelting by the normal way, you also use superheating, as it doesn't disrupt the normal smelting. Somewhat click intense, but not much worse than normal superheating. First to 99 Farming on 27. September, 2005.First to 3766 Port Score on 20. March, 2014.First to 4664 Port Score on 2. March, 2015.
