Chaotic staff or Farseer kite?

I am closing in on 200k tokens, and was wondering about the powers of the chaotic staff and farseer kite.

 

Which one would be better to get if I wanted to mage alot, say on slayer tasks and/or minigames (cwars, fog, etc)?

Staff is useless for pvm, sol is better. Staff is better at pvp unless you are meleeing.

by pvm do you mean bosses? or slayer? Reason I ask is because i hardly ever do bosses, and i enjoy mage slaying quite a bit, so i was wondering which of the two items would be an upgrade from sol + zammy book.

 

I'm also saving up for an arcane so I'm kind of leaning towards the staff, but if the kite is good, i'll just spend my $$ somewhere else.

Keep in mind that both have a 200k per hour recharge cost and that the staff does not save runes. SOL would be better for slayer tasks. You only could really justify getting the staff or shield for clan wars if you were a big warrer or else for pvp if maging in pvp is really your thing. They both are quite excellent pieces of equipment, but it's hard to justify their costs.

I say staff just because an arcane spirit shield is relatively cheap and is better than the farseer. The staff is the best staff for PVP, obviously. If you don't mind spending more money, the CS would be fun to use in PVM, too. I'd use it if I had it.

shields degrade faster than weapons.

but weapons only degrade by about 60k gp/hour in single way combat.

120k if being attacked by 2 enemies, 180k by 3, 240k by 4, etc.

 

it's not often that you'll be in a situation where your weapons/shields will actually degrade at 200k per hour.

Good to know. Still working slowly on my rapier so all I have to base it on is the KB and hearsay. 60k per hour is really cheap.

That's a good point, although I'm not so far off from an arcane.

 

I also hear that the kite degrades if it reduces damage so idk lol...

Because i don't see myself using them that much. I'm probably gonna range/mage slay to 85 and stop, train strength in dungeoneering with a promethium 2h, besides, i have a spear/whip for any small things i might need to kill.

Well, as you see theres actually no good reason of getting any of them, i would rather get a chaotic crossbow, which has better uses. A hefty 120 ranged attack bonus..

I intend to get one for soul wars where I mage harass the clowns that think they own at the game because they all pile in one side to get easy zeal.

The staff is so so.

Yea I was hoping to do some maging in minigames, what puts me off the kite is i don't know how fast it degrades if it absorbs damage, any insight on that would be good. I really don't want it to lose 10% charge every game of castle wars <_<

I bought the staff today and it has 1 downside.

 

50K ALCH PRICE -.-!

 

Almost EVERYTHING protects over it, I went to PvP and found out that Mystic/Rune protect over it. I can only use Moonclan without me losing the staff....which is rather useless....
