Asuming this'll be on today I know exactly what to do, just a minute and I'll get some quick sketches up.

Assuming this is on today and i'm not doing cartwheels with stress demons and homework ninjas, then i know i'll be able to hit something with a blunt object. Or sharp, whichever works.

Not exactly a piece of art, but it should be enough for you to understand aproximatly what I want. It is primarely a small 1-2 man fighter, but through the dock it could also be used as the bridge of a simpler style of modular ship.

Well, just to let you know I did figure out a possible solution to dealing with our property in the Sol System for 1000kt (possibly with an additional 150kt charge depending on the current systems of the Station) and one bay aboard the Unity (plus either 1 or 2 bays aboard the station), during the Unity's 11 year lack of contact. Additionally I am going to investigate the creation of a new line of Vessels:

I just remembered two more advantages of replacing fighters with androids:

1 They cost a lot less.

2 They take a lot less space.

I thought those were pretty much the only two reasons?

 

Regardless, it will be discussed after more research is done and more simulations are completed.

 

And I was unaware that we had quantum engines... Probably should have put those onto the station instead.

The main reasons were because of the maneuvrabillity, the potential for speed, them making a small target and the fact that they can board enemy ships if neccessary.

 

The androids would probably weigh around 200kg, which would rquire 200 Newton to move 1m/s.

Let's then assume one micro-ion drive can output a force equivalent to 5 megajoule of energy, that times four is 20MJ. That means 4 micro-ion drives would be able to accelerate the androids at up to 100,000 m/s, or 6000 km/h (3730 mph).

 

Archi, feel free to tell me if I overestimated the drives or underestimated the weight.

You have to remember that a smaller capacity for weapons means a smaller payload. These androids of yours aren't going to be using STS class weaponry, which could potentially make them completely useless.

Archi, did I finish the ocarina before we logged off? I'm curious how that'll turn out.

Phase compression weapons have proven themselves capable of obliviating the interior of ships with overkill efficiency, so why not the exterior?

Usually ship designers don't expect the shooting from enemy ships to come from the inside of their ships. :)

I think that if I manage to get into a Space session for being distracted by something else shiny, I'm just gonna hide in my quarters and do research.

Retech, in the sim where I invaded the Russian ship they used phase compression rifles against me, blowing up walls and walkways everywhere, and I asume they intended for those to be safe from handheld weapons.

Nope. Some of our old weaponary was generally destroying stuff as well.
