So the site's understanding of a FREE game is one that does not require monthly fees. But thing is, MOST of Runescape map is members only. Many people may and probably is creating Runescape accounts each day, but if you look at popularity in a perspective where it demands players to be active on their account for at least a year, would Runescape STILL BE the most popular "FREE" game?

 

And were would you say Runescape would be in the ranking of TOP FREE MMO RPGs?

All the fun is at members world. I for one do not wish to log into Runescape to play on free worlds. Because everyone knows time equals money visa versa. Time spent on Runescape F2P can be spent on real life work, to earn money, and money can be spent on membership, which then grants you ALOT faster experience for skills and money.

 

All the great and fun weapons is at P2P. And even if a player stays F2P for a while for whatever reason, sooner or later that player gets addiction to Runescape. Which then it don't make Runescape popular, it makes it addicting. I don't see how slow experience, oads of 0s during PK-ing and very limited content can remain a fun thing after some time.

 

 

 

P.S I was looking at MMO RPG lists, to find a fun FREE game i could play. F2P is no fun at all. :???:

This should be how almost everyone feels. You play it because you enjoy it. Who cares if it's popular or not. I play because it's fun. ;)

Bladewing and Bows, are you guys members? If not, would you still have the same spirit even in F2P? Because the subject is F2P, not P2P. I love P2P, and i find Runescape's graphics appealing, and the way the game is. F2P stinks big time though.

Yep, I'm a member. I've played F2P just as much as I've played P2P and I find them both equally enjoyable. F2P is just limited, that's all. I don't find the lack of 'mature' people annoying or anything, which some people do.

I dunno, since I really haven't tried many MMORPGs, but I do know that f2p sucks so bad that every time I lose membership, I quit playing rs until I get membership back.

P2P simply has more things to do. As I said, F2P is just limited. I don't mind playing it though, because it's still the same game.

You don't mind playing F2P, but you love/like P2P. That's not equally enjoying both worlds (free and member) if you ask me. And yes F2P is still the same game in many ways, but so high percentage of Runescape is in members world.

Well getting free demos as a kid from a game shop, the demos i got in CD, never got any more content to it. Like Runescape F2P have with small updates to major ones like Dungeoneering skill.

No, because demo, by definition, is a DEMONSTRATION. There is not such thing as a half demo. Its like saying a bad nasty object, etc.

Simply, quit or get members. If you care THAT much about the game's ranking you're playing, don't play it. Why play it just because it's popular, or you think it shouldn't be so popular. Who cares.

I am asking for objective opinions. And the question is in first post, if you would like to reply to it. And i have not implied anything. But your right. It's not a suited question for the community of TIF, considering that most of us are PROBABLY members or sticks to members.

I still play F2p and find it enjoyable. When I get bored with the game I just stop playing for a while; there must still be an attraction there for me because I always come back.

Runescape is a very popular MMO, but I wouldn't say it's the number 1 in terms of at-the-moment popularity. The thing about it is it's staying power. It's been here for nearly 10 years and it seems as though it's going to stay for at least 5 more (survive longer, but not at this level).

 

As for the F2P aspect of this discussion, I'd say that it's pretty popular. It provides quite a bit of content and the community is pretty good. When I say comumity, I mean the real F2Pers and not the pures who say "gtfo i have a p2p main so idk if i insult you" (and trust me, the majority of the jerks in F2P are those with P2P accounts, which is why they don't care how they act on the newbs). Contrary to popular belief, from my personal experience, the F2P community is more mature and open to conversations then P2P. The entire P2P culture is based around skilling efficiency and grinding rather then fun and community. That's why I prefer F2P. It's a much more relaxed, laid back place to hang out. When I go cut oaks for a bit of cash in a relaxed way, I don't get people saying "It's more efficient to kill frost dragons for money".

 

Many of the F2Pers I've talked too actually agree with me. F2P provides an atmosphere that can't be matched by P2P and to the best of my knowledge, any other of the 'top' MMO's. And that is where Runescapes allure comes from. A relaxed game with lots of things to do.

As a free player, yes it is the best. The only thing that attracts me to this free game rather than others is the lack of a item shop for real-world money. That really bugs me in most free games.
