King Kong

Featured Replies

I just saw it last night. I thought it was great. The time factor I didn't mind (I don't even understand why a movie being long is a bad thing). It started off slow because the characters had to be developed and all, but when the action started going, there was some of the best fighting scenes in any movie I've ever seen. This movie really deserves a few Oscars.

So what did everyone else think about it?

I may as well just post what i put in How2pk's last movie you saw thread:

What a film. It really was brilliant, so much more than just the high budget action flick that many people expected. The CGI was fantastic, completely engaging and there were some spellbinding fight/action scenes, not just with Kong but with the other characters. The brachiosaurus chase scene was totally brilliant and the Kong fight scene with the 3 T-rexes has to be one of the most well co-ordinated CGI scenes ever.

The love story was tragic and wholly believable, and the scenes where Ann was entertaining Kong and the ice skating scene were truly touching. The acting and casting were brilliant, and the casting of Ann was inspired, she was 100% right for the part. I went to see this film with a couple of friends, and normally i don't mind a bit of banter in the middle, but with this i was telling them to shutup when they were talking and laughing through some of the more touching scenes.

Bravo Peter Jackson, 10/10

"Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

its supposed to on the same level as Titanic...but they are not basing that on anything particular...they are basing that on money

but the tickets cost more and less tickets will be sold

Number of Box office tickets sold should be the determining factor

still a good movie, huge cast, huge budget, good cinematography,

and did anyone hear where LOTR was just Peter Jackson's practice for King Kong, that was on the Daily Show, i thought that was funny,

I usually get really arsey about remakes and took some convincing to see this, but it wasn't disappointing at all, it was awesome. A bit more violent than i expected for a 12A (mmm t-rex jaw breaking) but a very enjoyable film non the less. :)

Was a bit long yeah, 2 1/2 hours is usually optimum length imo. But still, worth seeing :D

I thought it was an excellent film but some of the scenes did not need to be there. I understand that some of those more 'graphic' fight scenes etc were there for people that like it, but it really was not needed for the whole point of the story, yes I admit it was cool but what did it add? nothing. Oh well nonetheless it was a very good movie, story, and touching too, just seeing how much Kong loved that girl. 9/10, I would HIGHLY reccomend it :)

I saw it few days ago, I like it. And I really dont mind a movie being three hours. I actually like it.

I really really want to go see it now after reading what you guys had to say about it. :D

I thought it was good, but when I went in I had one thing I didn't want to see, the same camerawork that I saw in LOTR. And the fact that he just kept the same type of acting(random staring into the camera..) along with the quick cuts during the action scenes really dissappointed me. The movie itself had pretty good cgi, but the water during the storm when they first arrived was just bad.

I saw it today and I have to say it was a amazing film - the time flew by.

It looks like it will be the #1 movie real soon

It was awsome. I saw it last night, and I think it's one of, if not the-, longest movies I've ever seen. It was frikkin' amazing.

My friend thought the brachiosaurus were elephants. >.>

Awesome film, just saw it like, half an hour ago.Bit sad that he dies 'snif'

But still great movie, with cool effects!

you never saw Titanic or the LotR movies?

and Braveheart probably had a longer script run-time

but the credits of King Kong made it longer by 10 minutes

and for those of you saying it's the best movie all year, which films are you comparing it to(don't say all of them, say which movies you've seen ;) )?

Yeah, it was simply an amazing film. The beginning I was like..Wow this is pretty boring. But damn, when they got on the island and king kong was fighting those dinasours...I got really into it. I mean, that was one of the BEST fighting scene's, I have ever seen. I mean, I simply loved it, it was brilliant...

I loved the part when he took the jaw's of that t-rex, then split them open, and shoved it through it's skull. (Sorry if I spoiled it for anyone..but it's in one of the commercials I think anyway).

This sounds really corny but the compassion in it was great to. The way he set up the relationship between kong and the girl, it was beatufil I must say. And this movie was made by one of the best director's ever IMO.

Got to give this movie 2 thumbs up. I loved it, couldn't even help the fact, but the end was pretty sad. The short ammount of time they spent together, but still that much of a connect, and bond, and that much love going on.

Gotta say, brilliant. Thats all.

I havn't seen the movie yet, but especially after these reviews i really do want to see it.

Pier pressure?

I can just see you being threatened by a wharf or jetty because you're a teleporter. Yes, I can see a large wooden wharf uprooting itself from the shore, walking over to you and slapping you in the back of the head for teleporting.

Normally I'm pretty wary of remakes as they are often pretty rubbish, and generally my opinon is proven correct, but King Kong was brilliant. I was also particularly wary of the 3 hours and 7 minutes running time but it flew by. The movie seemed to come in seven parts, the first being Carl (played wonderfully by Jack Black) searching for a new leading lady, the second on the ship, the third being the initial discovery of the wonders of the island, the fourth being them looking for Anne and her bonding with Kong, the fifth being excessive fighting scenes, the sixth is them taking Kong back to New York and the seventh is in New York when they try to put Kong on show and his escape and iconic scene at the top of the Empire State Building. Despite these clear parts to the movie it runs quite smoothly and the scenes between Anne and Kong are very moving. I have to say I cried lots at the end. And then my friend made me laugh. And then I cried again. And then she made me laugh again. And then I cried.

Quite the emotional rollercoaster

Yeah, my friend said she'll be having nightmares about them

Really sad but awesome.

In conclusion, you didn't see this movie.

Considering the classic is horrible, and this one is fantastic.

It was a bit too long, as one of my friends noticed: 'a movie that makes you [wagon] hurts, is too long'.

The action in it was quite alright, but they didn't know when to stop. Some things just kept coming back and all.

By far my favourite scene is the one with all those bugs, especially when you have an easily scared girl next to you ;)
