Evolution takes millions of years, and with current conditions, I doubt we'll survive that long as a race. :wink:

But if scientists step in and assits, i think we will be much more intelligent, and athletic. I really dont see an animal with like tenticals coming out of us.

Yeah that is true, I'd imagine us into a stronger, more intellegent, and athletic race myself.

We'll learn to scientifically alter our bodies and combine ourselves with fish so we can breath under water and we'll become fish people. Either that or we'll adapt ourselves to outer space and become space monkeys.

The theory of evolution does show much room for us moving backwards. :? With all the technology we have, as we advance intellectually everyday, what basis would come of thinking we would became more brutish and have less brainpower? We enhance our minds' abilities every year...

Weller off Americans are heading that way. Lower class/lesser smart Americans are falling victim to internet-speak (less intelligence) fast foot (fat) and the internet (lazy-can order online). That's about how I imagine it. We'll all be big, fat, lazy people, where the general population has a brain of much. A few Philosopher Kings will rule us (fat and lazy, but they will have robots), and ultimately destroy us. We'll be too busy eating fast food to revolt.

Thats actually a really good reasonable possibility. We are growing in size, so yeah we will definately be taller, unless we hit a slump, and we could go backwards maybe? :shock:

About the size, there was a study recently showing that humans are actually leveling off at our current average height, slightly lower than some years ago, as if the height is trying to balance itself out. Right now there's no reason for us to get taller, unlike giraffe's ancestors who were short and needed to reach high resources of food such as high trees.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Right now the human body needs little more to adapt to, the only other thing that could make us evolve even more is if we depended on technology so much that over time we would no longer need certain parts of our body. Maybe start gaining a greater tolerance on junk food to the point where we can somehow eat tons of it and not get unhealthy, we may lose our legs since transportation becomes more advance. The less we need to have on our bodies, the less we will need to consume to keep them up.

Damn, also well written. This is probally one of the most discussed topic's for scientist's right now, there is so many thing's that could happen, and we can't ever be *exactly* right, someting could always go wrong and change everything. Kinda freaky. :)

Overall brain size has been increasing , as has height. Baldness is on the rise, and the naturally red/blond haired and blue/green eyed population is on the way out. Any speculation about people supplementing themselves with technology to the point that we evolve around is questionable at best, considering the overall mixing of the gene pool, and that most of the worlds population doesn't live in a country thats even close to that level of sophistication. Same thing goes for a fatter/skinnier future, considering starvation rates.

 

 

 

Most likley way the race will kick the bucket? Meteors, they've caused mass extinctions before, they'll do it again.

This topic has really scared me into thinking of what the future (If there is going to be one) will hold. The way I see it, global warming, pollution and the greenhouse effect are probably going to hurt us the most. I really doubt with our current situation, what with all the millions upon millions upon millions of people, that it is impossible to reverse these things. That in my opinion the world will probably end within the next few generations.

Humans probably won't evolve much physically, but just invent new technology. We won't really know, but it is a nice thought. Well actually with the greenhouse effect, we arent going to last very much longer in evolutionary time. :lol:

evolution is going to be slower for humans than other species because we modify the environment to suit are needs. we will most likely louse all body hair except on are heads we may Even stop baldness.

 

 

 

humans will not grow too much taller or shorter and because of computers are brains will not need to grow much. we will get many times weaker than we are now because of the lack of need for muscle.

 

 

 

we will remain one species until we begin to colonize different solarsystems we will no longer be one species, after that it is anyone's guess.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

this is assuming we do not kill ourselves or drastically change our DNA.

Seriously though if we don't all get blown up or hit by an asteroid before we can evolve i reckon we'll sadly sacrifice physical prowess for mental advances. We're getting smarter and more advanced all the time but i reckon to make the jump from super advanced species to being able to play "God" (ie. do pretty much whatever we want) we need to sacrifice physical advances and purely concentrate on the mind.
