Onyx Ring (i)

Thragmir

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to get an onyx ring (i), but before I invest too much time or money into it, I just wanted to get a rough sense of how much of each it'll take. So the first question I have is are onyx rings buyable for the GE price of ~13M, and the second is roughly how long will it take? (In terms of games played and average time per game.) Thanks!

you're limited to gaining 12 rank per hour at mobilising armies. You can however get 12 rank in under an hour and then go do something else. assuming you gain 12 rank per hour, it'll take 300/12 = 25 hours to achieve 300 rank. suiciding in siege generally achieves around 12 rank per hour. I advise a combination of suiciding siege and playing (to win) games of conflict, as neither is full enough to do 24/7. sometimes there just isn't anyone there who wants to play siege. If money isn't your main concern, i suggest just going to mobilising armies and trying to gain a few ranks, and see if you're up to it. a lot of people seem to get bored and can't handle getting to 300+ rank.

As said above, it'll take about 25~ hours to get 300 rank. I myself grinded out 1 - 100 rank somewhat easily, and will be going for 300 sometime soon. The key is multitasking. Suiciding is somewhat AFKable, so watch a movie/shows while keeping an eye on the round timer so you know when to cannon your troops.

As for buying the Onyx, i have heard that they no longer have street value, most likely because of kinglys. So, it might take a while, but you should be able to snipe an onyx ring from the GE. However i don't personally think the onyx is worth 13M for the extra +1 boost in each stat. Dragonstone (i) would be a more economical choice, as it costs next to nothing and doesn't protect over almost EVERYTHING else on death. And even so, you'll have 300 rank so Berserker, Seers, and Archer's (i) rings would almost be better choices in situations where you're only using one type of combat.

Berserker (i) is ALWAYS the best melee dps in any situation, period.

But yeah, you might as well get an onyx ring while you're getting 300 rank. It's nice for lowering risk at corp and for DKs and TDs.

Onyx (i) is nice because it protects over divine :P.

But yeah, it's only nice for dks, perhaps tds, and skilling in dangerous areas.

Thanks everyone. I was hesitating to go for the berserker (i) because it costs more reward points, but it seems like simply getting to rank 300 is the rate determining step, not the reward points, so I think I will work towards a berserker (i) instead.

or get berserker, archer, and seers (i) and not bother with onyx..? why buy a useless piece of equipment?

It's not useless, just not the best in every situation :P

Dragonstone is much more practical though for those areas where it is good due to much less risk.

I almost never use onyx (I) since I mainly solo, and it protects over so much. I use serker (I) for most, and dstone (i) for dks.

As you are not maxed, I wouldn't bother with 300 rank atm. There's easier ways to gain the same bonuses for you currently.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.

It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

He should still go for a berserker, archers and Seers(i)

The sooner you get them, the more they benefit you in you training.

The sooner you get berserker (i) the more you profit. It can either save you a few hours to 99 melees or none at all.
