February 27, 201115 yr I actually happen to like a lot of actual traditional Nordic folk.. More into the Swedish and Norwegian bands, but some of that traditional Finnish Saami music is pretty neat, like Wimme. So if I had to vote Sweden vs Finland, Sweden gets mine. Väsen, Garmarna, Gjallarhorn...... When it comes to Scandinavian folk metal, Bathory takes the cake period. Not only did they pretty much pioneer the black metal genre, but viking and folk metal as well. Skyclad is often credited in creating folk metal itself, but Bathory was already putting out viking metal some years before Skyclad even formed.
