Hm, last time I called it "American language"..Paco at the McDonalds got my order wrong and management didn't understand when I upset that they couldn't atleast get English speaking foreigners, come to find out they had other immigrants working for them.. Odd.

I don't mind acronyms like brb, lol, ttyl, or other abbrevations like "dunno", "gonna" and "wanna", but the unnecessary absence of characters just pisses me off.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I used to talk like that too, but it ended up showing up in my writing at school; I'd put "r" and "u" instead of the proper letters without realising. So, after that, I started always typing properly (i.e. spelling and punctuation). I still spell properly, with the rare exception (saying "ok" instead of "okay"), and I've gotten a bit lazy on my capitalization and punctuation ... but that doesn't matter, because I don't have an uncle Jack, nor do I know anyone who owns a horse.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Oh, and what REALLY pisses me off, is when they use another letter and IT'S NOT EVEN AN ABBREVATION! Like "mi" instead of "my". IT'S TWO DAMN LETTERS! Or "iz" instead of "is". God damn that gets on my nerves so much.

I don't think the issue is whether or not we can read it...those of us opposed to it can read it fine. We just don't like having to figure it out. Its frustrating. Its the same reason they don't sell books that have lots of grammatical mistakes - its annoying to read.
