I have a 7th grade sister that types and writes like that. :x SO SO SO SO annoying... I hope that she'll grow out of it one day... Although, I doubt she will. :(

i didnt get the "hai lols" part of that, mainly because i dont understand why someone would use a "lol" right there.

I don't think its hard to read. Unfortunately, I was able to read it right away.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But when I'm on a message board reading my own language (one that I am very proficient in) then why do I have to decipher what people are saying? You yourself said you had to take a few seconds and "figure out" what was being said. :?

If someone is typing like an idiot on a forum, then I'm just more likely to skip over their post, or at least skim read faster. It's not a conscious decision, I do it automatically. In the same vein, in an online conversation I'll form an opinion of someone based on their writing. If you type like a 12 year old, then I'll think of you like one, whether you're 10 years old or 30.

People who talk like that just to imitate it are just as bad because EVERYONE is doing it now. I find it obnoxious either way.

There is no excuse to type in internet shorthand on a freakin' forum. On forums, you do not need to respond instantly, only in a manner that is not time-prohibitive. In other words, you can TAKE YOUR JOLLY TIME on the forums, and there's no lapse in conversation, unlike in IRC, MSN, or AIM, in which case you need to be quick. In latter cases then I find it acceptable to use acronyms and shortcuts, but on forums? That's just absurd. Same goes for email, PMs, etc.

At the end of the day, thats Text speak makes is shorter and faster if you need to get a message out quicker if you dont like it, get your jacket on and F**k Offm know what a mean, ken wit a mean n tht man its only txt spk, have you people not got anything better to do...
