Bumping this for those who missed it - perfect opportunity right now to see this effect ...

It now has been more than 3-4 hours after the system update, and we find that about 60% of F2P and about 30%-40% of P2P population has been WIPED OUT. In the next 4-5 hours or so the bots will get back at it - and the number will not drop again until the next system update (I have been up at 3-4am and found that the numbers are still higher than those now...)

Heaven almighty...I keep hoping that the next system update things will get better, but NO they just keep getting worse...

In F2P the tipping point of bot over humans has pretty much been reached...when will it hit P2P?..

Okay -- so if someone's F2P and running a Java client and avoiding advertisements, isn't Jagex losing money?

I am not sure how the ads work, but I know there are several types of them out there. There is one for simply putting ad so everyone can see (so ad company probably charge a flat fee for putting those ad for x amount of time). There is also one where everyone can see, but the advertising company's ad need to be clicked so the hit counts could convert to cash to pay the ad company.

Now, that being said, I am sure whoever is botting will have the ad turn off by anti ad program coz some flashing ad taking up computer resources, not to mention you open several at the same time. If the service fee is flat, so that means it wont be much unless Jagex charge a huge amount, and if the ad is not there to click on, Jagex won't make much either.

Jagex never made much with F2p ad's anyways, the contribution from those ad are probably enough to keep service and basic maintenance going, most of the money probably comes from P2p. Those are just my guess, but unless you somehow got Jagex operating budget and report, no one will ever know how much each side contribute.

After the Capes update, I've been fishing for 2 hours in barbarian village. I've only seen 1 fisher for 5 minites and 2 players that crossed the bridge. It felt as if I was on a private server :o
