April 18, 201115 yr Ok, quick question, but which spell do you recommend if I do barrows (not the most experienced Barrow-er). Either Slayer Dart or Wind Wave. Now, I have been using Wind Wave as it is a higher level spell and is cheaper (I don't want to use a spell that costs 500+ just because I don't feel necessary), but I was wondering is Slayer dart still more powerful even though it is 7 levels lower? They are about the same price so cost of those 2 doesn't matter. Help.
April 18, 201115 yr Author Ok thanks. I also just found out that the runes are usually Mind/Death runes (was on my last 3 trips) that are recieved from the chest so it seems cheaper as well.
April 18, 201115 yr I'd also think about using a black sally. Pretty fast and cheap. ~~~The Harpy List~~~Harpy Facts~~~It's Super Effective~~~The Beginning~~~Harpy Therapy Center~~~Alg~~~Jedi Harpy~~~Rohirrim~~~Attenuation~~~

April 18, 201115 yr Your max hit with magic dart is 100 + your magic level, approximately. It used to be +1 max hit for every 10 full magic levels (so only 190, unless boosted over 100, max normally). But since the damage updates & lifepoints updates, I'm not sure anymore. So at your 89 magic you're looking at 180 max or 189 max, before boosts. Wind wave hits 170 max, so it'd be worse damage either way. April 18, 201115 yr I always Fire Surge at Barrows, I ve always come back with more runes than when I start . You must remember to take into account any additional item costs, such as P Pots / Food, slower kills = more supplies needed per Brother. The higher the spell the more Chests per run / per hour you can manage. That obviously increases the potential rewards IMO. Gix

Gix i always did wonder if u could still profit using a spell like fire surge at barrows, im planning to do a few runs there myself and i was thinking about either Fire Surge, Ice Barrage, or Slayer Dartbut the only one i knew for sure that profited was slayer dart so if fire surge actually does profit i'll be using it from now on.
April 18, 201115 yr Ice barrage is the best spell for barrows. April 18, 201115 yr Ice barrage is the best spell for barrows. but can you still profit while using it even without getting a brother's item??? If you use Barrage along side of side-stepping and black salamander, you should be good. Combining the two methods enables you to stay at barrows for a while, limiting how much supplies you need. I've never used the side stepping method, is it hard to get used to?
April 19, 201115 yr As no one has bothered to answer, side stepping is very easy. I don't even want to call it a "technique", basically you get the melee brothers "stuck" on a corner.. I forget which NSEW directions work (it's been 4 years), but if you toy around for a few minutes you'll get used to it. Click on my stats for my no ppot barrows guide
April 19, 201115 yr Ice barraging all melee brothers with SoL and Arcane Stream Necklace is the most efficient, faster chests means more items to cover the price for a higher levelled spell. My lame drops:6 Effigys1 D Med - 1 D Dagger1 Verac's Helmet - 1 Guthan's Platebody
April 20, 201115 yr As no one has bothered to answer, side stepping is very easy. I don't even want to call it a "technique", basically you get the melee brothers "stuck" on a corner.. I forget which NSEW directions work (it's been 4 years), but if you toy around for a few minutes you'll get used to it. This was fixed a few years ago.... side steeping is when you barrage the melee brother then take a step to one side so you are diagonal to them, then you use salamander's attack and they can't get you but you can hit them. This doesn't work for ahrims and karils for obvious reasons..... [spoiler=Sig] I like to think of the Dark Bow like a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) - you get one shot and then you're screwed.
April 20, 201115 yr Heres some suggestions 1:Black Sally (ammo is very cheap and runes from chest will cover costs)2: Slayer dart: Great for the melee brothers, but you may find a whip or melee weapon does more damage on the ranger and mager (depending on your stats ofcourse) Other method you could try: 1: Use melee with soulsplit and protect prayers, while maximising prayer bonuses as much as possible.
April 20, 201115 yr 1: Use melee with soulsplit and protect prayers, while maximising prayer bonuses as much as possible.Pray bonuses do next to nothing here since you lose around 10 pray every 5 seconds or so
