Generally, every 5 minutes. Earlier if you can afford it.

Since extremes provide a hefty bonus (+5 then + an additional 22% of your total level iirc), then you may want to boost every 10-15 minutes (when your stats are 10-15 above what they normally are)

If you take 1 atk/1 str - you should be able to finish your slayer task - so if you consistently end up with one or two doses at the end of a task, then you might want to either change this number or tweak it for specific tasks

K thank you guys i have a task of 218 greaters and im at 108 right now and i've only used 1 att/str out of the 2 sets i brought with me.

EDIT: also im guessing you mean in optimal gear, as well at the moment im using the only gear i have since i put all but 3m of my money in getting 87 herb.

My current gear is:

SH

Glory

Torso

V Skirt

D Boots

Barrows Gloves

Whip

D Def

Strength cape(t)

Kura Ring

At the moment im not able to pray piety because i dont have a crap ton of money but on tasks i know i will profit i wont hesitate to pray piety.

As a general rule i re-pot at 10 levels higher than my current level. (for example i'm 85 attack and re-pot at 95)

When i'm fighting higher level monsters i might re-pot more frequently.

That's what i did with super's but i wasnt sure if i should repot more frequently with ext's or not.

1. How do you value your extreme potion compared to a super potion?

2. by using the extreme potion, are you looking to increase your dps notably or just hit bigger numbers?

No one can tell you "how often you should re-pot" unless you know the answer to these two questions.

Once you know, (and if you have chosen the efficient route of the dps and what not) this h&a isn't the place to post in. You want to go over to the efficient help and advice section if you want actual numbers of how much variance to your dps you'll actually recieve by potting at "x" level.

I'm not sure what your def is,

but you can easily switch out your torso for a pros body and if you have the money, switch out the glory for a fury

Even if that's not much - you'll be saving a good amount of prayer points over a long period of time.

You can also look into bringing a wrench/flashing piety.

It's not too hard with a whip and you'll notice a pretty large occurrence of the orange damage splats. (to see if you're doing it right)

@Blind,

1. I value my ext potions much more than my super and i want to get the most out of them not just high hits.

2. Im looking to increase my DPS noticeably not just looking for higher hits i want to get the most both damage and xp wise out of my ext potions.

@Litter,

Im 99 defence and at the moment i cant afford to buy a fury because like i said i spent most of my money on 87 herb because i felt it would help me more in the long run than some gears would.

You should only re-pot once a task.

Lol wut?!

OP: At your lvls with extremes you should pot when your str gets to 118. You can switch it up a bit depending on the task. I usually re-pot around 118-120 depending which task I'm on. You usually look to use atleast 4, usually around 6 doses per task. That's when you get some use out of the extremes. Ofc, if extremes are expensive to use (which they shouldn't be - why get them at all then) for you, then maybe u wanna lower the pot range.

However, it does not make any sence to let your stats drop below 15 abpve ypur regular tho.(at 99's that would be 114)

Just repot at 117-118 str

To just be a fun-killer i'd like to inject some basic math into this.

First off, let it be know that it is extremely hard to calculate the dps against certain monsters, I.E. Your greater demon task. This is because we don't know the max defence value for said monsters.

However, if we take your question and put it into a PvP situation rather than PvM, we may see some results.

Lets assume that:

1. Your opponent has 99 defence.

2. You have 99 attack & 97 strength.

3. You can pot to 123 Attack & 125 Strength.

4. For simplicity, your oponent has a def bonus of 99.

Your DPS & Accuracy at:

[hide=Lots of numbers]

113 attack & 115 strength:

Accuracy(%): 69.4444%
Average Damage Per Hit: 130.2083333
Dps: 54.25347222

114 attack & 116 strength:

Accuracy(%): 70.1852%
Average Damage Per Hit: 133.0009259
Dps: 55.41705247

115 attack & 117 strength

Accuracy(%): 70.7407%
Average Damage Per Hit: 135.1148148
Dps: 56.29783951

116 attack & 118 strength

Accuracy(%): 71.2963%
Average Damage Per Hit: 137.2453704
Dps: 57.18557099

117 attack & 119 strength

Accuracy(%): 71.8519%
Average Damage Per Hit: 139.3925926
Dps: 58.08024691

118 attack & 120 strength

Accuracy(%): 72.5926%
Average Damage Per Hit: 142.2814815
Dps: 59.28395062

119 attack & 121 strength

Accuracy(%): 73.1481%
Average Damage Per Hit: 144.4675926
Dps: 60.19483025

120 attack & 122 strength

Accuracy(%): 73.7037%
Average Damage Per Hit: 146.6703704
Dps: 61.11265432

121 attack & 123 strength

Accuracy(%): 74.2593%
Average Damage Per Hit: 148.8898148
Dps: 62.03742284

122 attack & 124 strength

Accuracy(%): 75.0000%
Average Damage Per Hit: 151.875
Dps: 63.28125

123 attack & 125 strength

Accuracy(%): 75.5556%
Average Damage Per Hit: 154.1333333
Dps: 64.22222222

[/hide]

Take from this what you will; i personally would re-pot around 120.

Also, it's 3 am so if i have made some mistakes in my calc's, i do apologise. (and to be honest, i probably have. I'm not the best at DPS equations, i have nothing on grimy and ancient)

If you bring two extreme pure sets to an hour, you should repot every 7 minutes (you lose a few more levels at the end of the hour).

Ok so i just started to use ext's for training and i was wondering at 97 attack and 99 str at what boost should i be repotting?

Repot at 110

There is some really bad advice in this thread; you contribute to said advice.

Why on earth would you tell someone to wait until 110 before repotting.

Mise well not use pots at all.

+1 to this

If you're gonna wait until your stats drop to 110 then might as well not make extreme pots at all

This thread really has some bad advice all around(apart from blind) so yeah...

Use overloads.

If they cost too much, use extremes and pot as frequently as you can afford. Generally it's efficient to pot every 5 levels, potting lower than 118 is a waste(assuming 99 stats).

First to 99 Farming on 27. September, 2005.

First to 3766 Port Score on 20. March, 2014.

First to 4664 Port Score on 2. March, 2015.

Dont have ovls yet and probably wont for a while, but Im potting at 118 str (116 attack as im only 97 at the moment). Thanks again for all the good advice (mostly Blind but a few others as well).
