What people scam for these days.

Featured Replies

Just a couple of days ago i got scammed off a rune plate. This guy offered me black (g) legs plus a few noob things and i'm f2p so i dont really know the prices for treasure trail items. While i was checking with a friend about the price, he changed it to regular black legs. Both of the legs were in note form btw, and if you look at it when they're in note form, there are only a few pixels of gold on the (g) legs. Anywhoo, I accepted and as i was pressing the second accept button i noticed the black legs didn't say (g) after them. I thought "That just must be how they are". Boy, I was dumb. Oh well. I got about 350 steel bars ready for the selling now. :D

What is the moral of this story? ALWAYS CHECK THE SECOND TRADE WINDOW! NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!

-Do you want 2 of those rune platebodies you are wearing?

-sure

-drop it and press alt+f4

-Do I look thÃÆÃâÃâát rtarded (the forulm changes this into mentally changed :P )?

-omg lol n00b! ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâèlogs off*

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

in rs just as in r/t if it sounds too good to be true, it prob is...

I know RS advise everyone to avoid the 2nd screen xploit scammers use, but they could easly fix the problem where high amount are concerned i.e.

1000000 = 1m

1300000 = 1.3m

etc

and so on

Or they could input a line in there programming that says

"WARNING THE OTHER PLAYER HAS CHANGED HIS OFFER"

The end of scamming, for good, unless your really stupid enough to continue that is.

u can still see the amount in the trade screen. it says (for example 1.6m): 1M (1600000gp)

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either

a fool or a coward.

Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law

is both.

For a wounded man shall say to his assailant:

"If I live, I will kill you, If I Die, you are forgiven."

Such is the Rule of Honor.

I remember when my brother got banned (temporalily) for scamming.

He learnt his lesson though. He said his password and got hacked about

a week later.

I tried not to laugh. I'll be honest and say I failed.

But seriously, scammers will eventually get their just deserves.

People scam for almost everything

I once got scammed and lost 2k...LOL :!: Eh, but that was enough to keep my head straight. Always check twice before accepting a trade! No matter how little you may have been scammed, that little bit will add up.

Away :( -cheers all!

well people scam for passwords

the best one i've seen is some dude yelling at a bank: "look everyone jagex is blocking your password ******** "

it took me 2 seconds to figure out it was a scam but i still had an urge to write it out...maybe go into a deserted place and do that.... but im too lazy for it

another way is when someone mesages you and tells you "you have been selected and we will pay your membership for rs...by the way you have to give us the pass so we can do it"

i played dumb with this dude a litle just to mess with him and then reported him... he kept repeating that i was selected and "this is a one in a life time oportunity" like he had it wrote down on a papper or something

iwas trying to buy 500 b bones then some guy offers the b bones in note then at the end switchs them for norm bone and the look same as b bone in noted

arrgg!

So i was buying Big bones in world 1 Varrock west bank saying buying all big bones, I get a few offers all ok. The some one puts up 50 big bones and i put up the money, im in a rush so i dident check the second trade screen. When the transaction was complete i saw 50 bones, not big bones but bones, in my invntory. I cant report the guy cause i dident see his name and also its world 1. So i lose 13k. That guy scamed me for 13k, I mean if your going to scam some one do it for something big, or just dont do it at all.

Exact same thing for me, except 90k instead of 13. Good thing I don't know how to tie a noose! :?

Tie a noose?

I've been thinking about something.

Like I posted a few pages of this thread ago, I got scammed while selling 3000 lobbies: the guy changed 600k into 60k. If I would have seen this, and if I would then have removed 2970 lobbies so that 30 lobbies remain, maybe he wouldn't have seen that, because he's so busy with his coins, and with hoping that I'll accept, that he actually accepts and he becomes the scammed one instead of the scammer (paying 60k for 30 lobbies)...

Runescape: Lodev (Combat level been fixed at 101 for years now, Total level 1500+, playing since march 2002)

Arenascape: Lode (Level 240+ Warlock)

Why you fell for the note switching scam, wow you are a noob!!!

They make that scam so obvious, sometimes I think you gotta be drunk to fall for that.

You should put public on hide on worlds like that.

!!!! Oh man, your comment just caused a major epiphany for me!! I'll stand around on f2p servers and buy stuff like natures, cosmics, ess, yews, etc and I'll get all annoyed trying to click on trade requests with the chat scrolling like it does in a busy bank. If I put public chat on hide, and do all of my "Buying this and that", I'll still see private messages and trade requests.

Duh!! Wow, things are going to be so much nicer for me moving forward, I can't wait to try this. Thanks.. :)

Scammers scam for money, perhaps? Yeah what's new?

I think you should be able to stab someone for trying to scam you.

Anyways, its your fault for not checking a trade. Dont trade if your in a hurry. Trading in RS is just like irl, if you dont pay attention, someone will take advantage of you. (Damn credit card companies....)

I got suprised last time by a scammer.

I was buying full guthix. And as soon as i get behing the varrock bank world 1 i saw: Selling full guthix 1.8 mill.

Great sure I will buy trade me

He offers full guthix, i offer 1.8mill

I watch the second trade screen carefully bam: normal rune legs.. what a n33b
