Some of you may or may not know but the Canadian Federal Election is approaching quickly. On January 23rd the polls will open and you have the option to express your opinion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This will be my first election and unlike most young voters I plan on voting. If I don't vote then I should have no reason to complain about how things are run. I know there's probably a handfull of us Canadians here that are eligable to vote but I'm curious on how other people stand on the issues.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Do you know who you're voting for already or are you undecided? I don't want serious flaming going on but as long as its constructive and isn't insulting than its ok with me.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I plan on voting for the NDP. I find them close to the liberals without actually having to vote for the liberals. Last election many people switched from NDP to liberal because they were afraid that the Conservatives may win.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I like where Jack Layton stands. He's not all that caught up in the whole liberal vs conservative scheme. Comparing Stephen Harper to George Bush...I think of the NDP as the little guy. He still stands a better chance then the leader of the Green Party because nobody takes them serious.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the end I see the Liberals winning again, sponsership scandal and all. The ties between Gilles Duceppe and Stephen Harper are too strong. As much as we nag on the french, we don't want them to seperate.

I'm not Canadian, but I'd encourage ALL tip.iters (who are eligible) to vote. I don't care who you vote for-- all I care is for people to get out there and voice their opinion. Don't let 50% of the population decide on what your future will be! :)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And as an extra incentive, I'll give everyone who votes a cookie.

I already voted Conservative in the advance polls.

I'm definitaly voting, though still undecided. I think it'd be a shame to see the Liberals win after the scandal though.

Yeah, a lot of people complain about peolpe not voting, but what they seem to forget is that most of them, have no clue what goes on in politics other than a couple 30 second headlines they see on the news. It is better not to vote, than cast a vote which can impact the world, and you don't really know what your stance is.

I disagree with your vote but I won't say anything more than that. Ya, so this is my first federal election in which I'm allowed to vote and I'm psyched. I've been looking over the candidates in Victoria and I'm tied between the Liberals and the NDP. I dunno, I think I need more info.

Im only 16, so i cant vote... i want to though... im in civics right now and ive been paying attention to the media, so id like to vote...

Jack Layton is good, but I don't really see a point in voting for him. It's not like he's going to win anyway.

Canada votes today! I was pretty excited for my first chance to vote in a Federal Election, and this year it's looking like every vote counts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I live in a region of Ontario that has been dominated by the Liberals few decades. It's looking like this will be the first time in a while that the Conservatives will be in power. I sure hope not. :shock:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Voted Liberal. NDP and Green are looking better every day though. insane and I are in the same region, so it looks like we've cancelled one another out (in a way). *shakes fist*

I voted Conservative. I absolutely despise of Steven Harper, but I voted for who would to best in my area. Our local MP is an up and rising conservative, and his views differ from the normal conservative ideology.

But that only the riding, if the conservative party if voted in, your gonna have to deal with a lot of things on the federal level, and if your more liberal, you might not like whats to come.

I'm American and I'm 17 so I missed out on the last Federal Election. However, I wouldn't bother voting in the next election simply because I live in a "blue state" (meaning that California is a predominantly "Democratic" voting state) so my vote would just be one more vote amongst thousands of other Democratic votes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now, since America's election system is not a direct election one vote doesn't really matter in a state that is heavy one way or the other. I'd encourage all those that live in "swing states" to exercise their right to vote and if I lived in such a place I would definitely vote as well.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I think it's a shame that so many young people are ignorant or choose to ignore elections. Young people make up a lot of the populations around the world and if we voted in mass, we could really affect the future.
