The Observer
For music purposes, music devices on MP3 players or iPods have replaced the need for CDs. Same goes for games, but they use DVDs now since they have more storage (or blu-rays in the case of PS3s). So, I don't think the transition is going to be that difficult. Kaida23
"Looks like I'll have to buy the white album again." I'm not really sure how I feel about this. Personally, I don't have any way of playing digital media except for on my laptop, and most of the time I just burn that onto a CD so I can listen to it in the car...and that predates MP3 plugins. I have a feeling this is going to upset a lot more people than they think. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually... Ieyfura
I literally just died inside, and in a non joking manner. I live my life listening to music, and owning a CD from an artist I adore has always been one of my favorite aspects of this. I'm speechless as to what my reaction is....more just shocked than anything... "Don't get in my face, don't invade my space. Maleficus1055
That's really stupid, and if anything will only lower sales of an album. I know plenty of people that would never buy music if it wasn't physical media, myself included. I like owning a physical copy, and I would never pay for an mp3. Tumblr. Follow me! tripsis
Doesn't bother me in the slightest :P I haven't bought a CD in years. I was shocked when I met someone who still bought them (used, but still). - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
Low C
I don't see this happening as soon as they say. The article is poorly written and I don't really see many sources that point towards this massive of a movement. Digital download will eventually take over but just like anything the phase will take time. Hell i don't listen to my ipod in my truck when i'm driving because of battery life. I'd rather just throw a cd into my stereo.

Sam
That's a very poorly written article. Where are the facts (and sources) to back up it's claims? 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM

obfuscator
Well, questionable article aside; it's pretty obvious this will eventually be what happens. While it's kind of nice to get the album art with lyrics, I don't think I'll miss it too much. Giordano
There's still going to be CDs so you can just burn the music on 'em. But if you like album art/'legit' physical then you're screwed. redhaloguy
Good, I'll keep downloading illegally and buying vinyl and occasionally buying CD's from Amazon.com's warehouse. No problems here. If you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

I like owning a physical copy, and I would never pay for an mp3.Same, I'll never pay for a digital download. Why would I pay for a low quality MP3 that takes forever to download and is full of DRM when I can download a better quality one for free. I also like listening to full albums, not just singles and I fear that if the music industry moves to downloads only, artists will just start releasing individual songs instead of albums.
