I did string ammy + hunter kit simaltaneously around your level for some pretty nice magic xp/hr, although I'm not sure it's the fastest.

I know barraging the ramp at soul wars is fast xp, but seeing as you can't ice barrage, the xp rates would be lower from using a different barrage-like spell.

You could also try skeletons on ape atoll or rock lobsters for charms.

You used to be unable to ice barrage the monkey skeletons since it would glitch the spawns. Did they fix that?

I think you can now, i remember seeing people barraging there. Also, he would have to use burst until barrage :)

You could cast smoke barrage, it's still a lot faster than bursting. With +7 magic level boost you could even cast blood barrage. It's expensive, but fast. Don't discount barrages beside ice so soon ;).

What about virtus and augury prayer? (..question mainly directed at Quyneax, since she's the expert) ;)

4K469.png

"Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come."

"An imperfect man can do great deeds, and a great man imperfect ones.

Augury doesn't do very much that I know of (compared to leech), but Virtus will increase xp/hr. Whether you use a mage-boosting prayer depends on how any increase in kill speed affects prayer potion consumption and the appropriate banking times.

Whether Virtus is efficient is another matter, I tend to think not.

You can also barrage the mummies in CT, they drop a couple of charms.

Trouble with mummies is the respawn rate - skeletons respawn from their bones, allowing you to use ice barrage as they don't have to be unfrozen during luring. Luring takes a lot of time as well.

If you care about getting charms, I highly reccomend ice barraging Rock Lobsters. Not the fastest XP there is, but I think the charms make it worth doing.

I kept getting 130+cb people asking how I got a Yak at a combat level in the low 120s.

Money not being an option

What? Why is money not an option?

I meant money not being a problem not option ha.

Thanks for all the good advice! I've been doing string jewelry + hunter kits and am getting really bored, I think I'll switch back and forth between barraging and that, thanks!

Barraging is actually about as expensive, I think? And twice as fast at least.

A really good alternative to barraging is surge spells and simultaneously high alching inbetween casts. Storm of armadyl gives a little better xp but is rediculously expensive.

For truely epic XP do this on something with really low magic defense, like black demons. For great xp and more charms/effigies/money. Do it on mith dragons.

Water surge and alching is about 220k magic xp/hour on demons, 200k magic xp/hour on miths. (I've only ever done fire surge, but that's based on fire's accuracy and water's base xp. Fire is rumoured to be more accurate on metals but i've seen no definitive proof.)

Storm of armadyl is around 220k magic xp/hour on miths. Really not worth using on demons unless you literally have trillions IMO.

All magic spells have the same accuracy

Using red chins at the ape atoll place, I averaged around 300-400k range xp per hour from level 90-99. I'm only assuming magic would be somewhat equal, if not more with arcane/cs

- Only character in Runescape History maxed out in RSC and RS2

Soa is unlikely to be worth it at low mage levels because of the 5 damage boost per mage level past 77. And it hardly loses money at all at 99 mage, and even profits at miths if you include dfh and visage drops.
