NotoriousPSC
I haven't played seriously in more than a year, and even though I periodically visit the RS website to see updates, I haven't spent more than 15 minutes or so logged in since last September. I've noticed though, that the active players was always around 50,000-60,000, which is much less than when I last played. I was wondering if why this might happen, or if I just picked odd times to log on. Thinking about playing over winter break, depending on what else I have going on. Maybe go to a TET event, if those still happen. My sig also does not seem to work properly, how can I fix this? Kaida23
The bot nuke removed a large number of "players" and the online numbers haven't been the same since. Your sig doesn't work because you're probably not a member right now. Non-members no longer show up on the hiscores. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. NotoriousPSC
WTF? I've been playing for 7 years and because I'm not a member I'm no longer on the hiscores? I have three 99s for Christ's sake. And what about F2P 99s? People who were non members their whole time? Did Jagex not care about offending them? Kaida23
And what about F2P 99s? People who were non members their whole time? Did Jagex not care about offending them?It was discussed at length here and here. Basically, they seem to be more concerned with current paying players than long time members of the community, regardless of levels, contributions or fame. btw - TET changed a bit as well. Recently they have decided to focus more on monster hunting events. It was discussed here. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. Thus
More crying about meaningless highscores. To be honest the only use for them is to see if someone can assist you and the combat for PvM. The playerbase is full of whiners and "trolls" (wannabe idiots), join the club.
Huzzah
Just wondering, is Runescape alone in high scores being a members feature? I don't play other mmos so I'm not sure. I also never really understood the whole concept behind 'F2P Pure' other then getting something for nothing. If you want to limit your exp gains, you can use the same methods in P2P. Also the fact people claim that this will discourge new players is nonsense. It wouldn't effect them at all as they would have never gotten used to being there. NotoriousPSC
I have a hard time believing that bots/cheaters would make up that large of the player base. Did anything controversial happen? Also, A Wiki? Bxpprod
Unfortunately, they did make up such a large proportion. Some have quit due to various updates (including F2P highscores I'd assume), but nonetheless, there were rediculous numbers of botters going around. Kaida23
I'm sure a lot of people also quit over the last year or so because of the number of bots. Given time, I'm sure many of them will slowly return. As for the Wiki, time will tell on that one. So far, it hasn't exactly been groundbreaking. I remember someone posting a picture of the entry on Zezima that simply said "Zezima is a noob." It has potential, but RuneScape Wiki has been doing it for years and is probably the standard the Official Wiki will be held to. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. The amount of bots that played at any given time was ridiculously high. UltraMantisV2
Playerbase is absolutely horrible. The majority consists of try hard "gotta go fast" addicts who put grinding above fun, and the "trolls" who are mostly 13 and probably go on Reddit. NotoriousPSC
I feel like I might re-up for a one month membership soon, is the game and community still good enough to where a veteran like me would enjoy it? On another note: I have an alt whose password I forgot but didn't set up an email address or recovery questions. Is there any way for me to find the password without guessing wildly as to what it is? You've got people ragequitting over every update, troll posters all over RSOF and fansites, and anti-efficiency peeps who think metagaming is the worst idea ever. Could it get any worse? Oh yeah, the f2p base is now as broken as hell since the bot nuke update. When you look at all the servers, almost all of them are below 500 pop... so much for making money eh Jagex.
