Swiller2
What I do that usually helps a lot: After runescape has loaded, go to task manager, right click Java, set priority to high.
ssj6gotenks
Yeah I've tried that it doesn't make any difference. Also, it's using 90~100% of my CPU.
Lord Paul
Isn't that processor designed for netbooks? And why is your pagefile so massive? I'm running same OS with 4GB of Ram on my laptop, just a much better processor and gfx card.. Can easily run max RS and still multitask. What settings are you trying to run RS at? Working on max and completionist capes. 2435/2475

Kaida23
Try running RS in OpenGL instead of DirectX. It worked wonders for me. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually... ssj6gotenks
I've tried openGL Software and DirectX still with the same problem.
RoswellCrash
You'll have to lower the setting's, on paper that's enough to run RuneScape just fine, but we all know since the Bot Nuke large changes have been made to how RuneScape runs. It's now, slower, more lagging & uses more resources than before. The FPS can be all over the place depending on hardwear. Ive seen a steady 24fps on one of my computers when it ran a solid 50fps before the Nuke, and still runs Crysis with Max settings and graphics pack installed at a steady 60fps. The game is kinda messed up in that way. I run a decent 48 - 50fps on my system but it's not solid 50 like it once was, I have two processors, I don't mean cores I have 12 of those total I actually have 2 processors each with 6 cores at 4.3ghz (OC), 12GB of DDR3 top of the line ram, and 2 580 graphics cards with 1536MB GDDR5 in SLI & I can't get a solid 50fps I used to. RuneScapes using a lot more these days. They need to address these issues, are you using the RS client? - Twitter | RuneScape FB Group | My PC
Randox
I figure most of your trouble is the graphics card. It looks like its some sort of integrated chip. My 2 core @1.7GHz, 2GB laptop can play the game at maxed, but it actually has its own graphics card in there, I think that really makes a difference. This reminds me that I would like to find something to monitor GPU usage. I'd love to see how much of my PC's is being consumed by that game because it's not getting the CPU over 20%, yet my fps likes to drop into the 30's. ssj6gotenks
Yes I have used the client and the problem is the same, I wanted to start playing again after a while but it doesn't look like I'm going to until I fork out for component upgrades or a new laptop. The game runs fine on the pc in my house on like moderate settings so I know the internet isn't the issue.
RoswellCrash
No I doubt it's the net, but yeah RS is little strange lately. What you could try is ruining the client in minimum setting on FULL SCREEN mode in a very low resolution. Like 800 x 600 see if it's playable. Then work your way up to a bare able resolution where it's still playable. - Twitter | RuneScape FB Group | My PC
hatebringer
Are there alot of background applications that you don't need running? Check your "run on startup" programs, might be one of them in the background that has stealth started to run all the time that lags your RS. I had a similar problem where java ran at close to 100% cpu all the time as well as numerous issues disregarding just runescape, and a system restore to a earlier point may fix some underlining problems as well.In my case my computer suffered from some other drastic problems and I had a full system restore to stock (after backing up EVERYTHING VIABLE) and runescape now runs comfortably at 40-50% peak around 65-70 which still allows me to multi task and do other things.... I.E. As posting this I am also Playing RS and listening to music with CPU at 57% solid not relevant: [item=3249] 99 Fletching 99 Attack 99 Constitution 99 Cooking 99 StrengthGamertag: H8tebringer

Aslan
My laptop has a very similar build and the game runs at 4-5 fps. It's not the laptop's fault. A few months ago I'd get a steady 25-30 fps but now it dropped. Most likely has to do with their servers.
Fallstar
You have plenty of RAM. Your processor/GPU look to be more like the problem, unfortunately upgrading those tends to be more expensive. Asmodean <
Ren
Unless Jagex changes the game the -correct- way, your comp is as good as mine for RS. Complete ass. You'll need a new graphics card (one that costs 30-100 USD is fine) and a PSU that can handle your amps/wattage. Be sure to add up your amps, and check the watts on the PSU before you buy it, to be sure your card (if you do buy) will not fry anything.
Kaur
The team has been dedicated to eliminating the last of the performance issues experienced by some users since Bot Nuke Day, and we will shortly be releasing an update intended to resolve these problems. Were also planning further improvements to game accessibility and performance in future updates this year. Should be fixed soon enough...

For example, I had 17-24 fps on dialup 9 months ago before my modem got fried by lightning, now with cable internet I have like 400x the speed, but 1/2 or less frames. I do agree that RS's servers are notoriously shit.
