    Why PC Gaming Sucks

Oh, side note: possible memory price spike due to a fire at a main manufacturing company. PS4 seems more likely to get hit with price spikes than Xbox One, but overall, everything should/would be rising (including pc's). The difference is that most people don't need a ton of ram for pc's, and consoles going up by $50-75 is very possible. GPU's on the other hand could be getting very expensive, just because of how the market is right now. Higher-end GPU's are staying stable prices, sometimes even going up (due to inflation and whatever). There are a few companies out there that will not be affected heavily by this, but nVidia is one of the biggest names out there and likely will be. Say hello to new $1000+ GPU's?.. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's finally worth buying the cheaper stuff for sure. Usually people avoid it because it's shoddy/doesn't last quite as long due to inferior cooling systems or whatever. That's what you're mainly paying for, the quality of the ram, and the fans that come with it all.

Logged in for the first time in like 11 months just to say that Minecraft is not a PS4 exclusive. It's currently the most sold game on Xbox or something in the last 6 months+? + It's kind of been on PC for a while..
  4. Curious if anyone's tried to decline the xp and see if it bypasses the extra training after Monkey madness to gain passage to Ape Atoll. It's not a forced thing from what I saw, but I didn't try this myself.

  11. It's a small price to pay if it's out of context imo. I mean, this is assuming that you can appeal the mute (and be successful) if you're just talking about h/c. If not, well.. hello complaints :P. I really hope you sent an appeal for the mute before posting this topic.
  12. I can provide them with nearly every bit of history regarding the account, so that's good to hear. I might not have replied within business hours, but I believe I did just barely. I guess I was assuming they had a team for JAG and such that wasn't based on their normal business hours anyway. They really should get a team for that. This post made me feel much more comfortable, by the way. It's not just a problem with JAG but maybe some of their systems are down. Strange regardless, and thank you for the post :P.
  13. I've recieved an email shortly after my last post. It took them over a day to respond, so don't rely on that timeframe. It's not fixed as of yet and I'm doing the same thing I did before for the third time. The only difference is I have an automated email system to talk to. The Jagex caches are still on my pc, I try to at least update RS so I don't have to wait to play as long if I ever want to log in in the future.
  14. OK, thanks for the info, Sy (you're techy from what I remember), now.. Let's assume one or both scenarios occurred. 1) Someone ended up hijacking what Jagex said to be very secure (my JAG), how can I recover my account now? Repeat steps even if I've already taken some/all. 2) Someone messed directly with my PC (has happened before in a much more dangerous way, this time it seems extremely well done and completely undetectable). Solutions? I guarentee you that my current and up-to-date anti-anything software detects nothing. I have no trojans (or anything else) according to TDSSkiller. I can try even more antimalware and antivirus programs out there but I am quite certain this will give me the same results. With that, am I screwed completely? I mostly want information on the first bit because I'm very very confused as to how/why I can do certain things but others. Maybe you can elaborate how JAG recognizes different PC IP's. When I called my ISP they gave me a step-by-step to find my IP and the technician said something very different from what you did. I, for one, always thought there was an internet sort of IP, and then an IP for your actual computer for, say, if you wanted to do some sort of computer-to-computer connecting without any internet. He was saying that my IP of my modem and my PC were the same.. Forgot to mention that I have used very sensitive information on this pc, like credit cards, on this PC without ANY problems, I have a very very very high doubt that it regards hijacking from my end. The device is still recognized, and it even shows one of my old IP's that were changed by my ISP. I can verify this because I have other sites that've recorded most of my IP's. It is 100% a previous IP given by my ISP, and this has happened at least 14-16 times or more already. The way JAG is showing different devices is by the IP I used for that device when I registered it (worst case scenario). There is no way in hell you're right that it doesn't rely on that in some areas. I've also checked my IP through the command prompt ipconfig and through my LAC, it matches what it says for allowed devices on JAG. Meaning whatever Dynamic IP I was given for my MODEM is different from whatever IP I'm talking about, which has NOT changed ever. Sorry if I was unclear. Wtf is preventing me from logging in?
  15. It's been probably about 1-2.5 months (Checked just now on this edit) since I've logged into the game, and 3.5 or so since I quit due to the EoC release. I went to login on my main account yesterday and it kept prompting me about an "unknown device", meaning I'd have to go through my JAG to add this device as a safe one. This NEVER happened when I was playing regularly, The way it recognizes devices is through the connected IP, my ISP uses my modem IP since I have no router or anything separating my modem and PC connection. My ISP also has been using dynamic IP's since before I had it, so that begs me to ask... Has Jagex publicly announced that they are or have changed the way JAG works? I have no problems with any other accounts logging into the game, so I know it's not their login service.. The funniest part is that I can change my password flawlessly and get to that prompt of JAG with that new password in about 20 seconds. It's just completely refusing my "new device" which is actually the same PC with a different IP. [Add-in: I failed to mention that for some reason I can't answer any JAG question correctly even with correct answers] Another query I have is about how the forums now work. I have at least 2 accounts that should have full free access to the forums, but neither are "Qualifying free members", and as far as the forum rules go, that means having over a "350 total level", or what used to be 1.35M total xp. Both accounts exceed either of these, so I am extremely confused. I've already emailed account and JAG supports four times now, given all the information they need to remove JAG and basically anything else they need to, without a reply. I've called my ISP and tried to change my IP back, get more information and as well as check to see if it's a problem on their end or the modem I use, so... What do you guys think is going on? Some extra info to narrow down your answers: Passwords are unchanged from what they were when I wasn't having issues The registered e-mail has not changed from what it was EDIT: For better clarity, read my latest post(s).
  16. *snip* I completely agree but you need to make clear that maybe 20% of accounts subscribed will NOT show up on hiscores if the level req is 30+ still. I take that amount out of nowhere, but if you factor in newbies as well as fresh bot accounts people can use to vote, it accumulates to at least 10%. It's also a very good outlet for all of their membership promotions. Even if it ends up being $15 extra, I doubt many people will have to pay that much because of how much Jagex loves to discount the price every couple of months. They could hand out rares that way - buy the one year package, Diango starts stocking party hats. I highly doubt parts of this. Maybe they'd implemen an infinite rare system to prevent massive value on random items in a game that isn't really "important", but if they aim to make it the way it was, that won't happen. Of course, it won't be the same anyway so I may eat my words. I just don't think that parts of this serve good function. Keep in mind hoarding will be prevalent for the "First come, first served" type idea. That won't help at all.
  17. I just so happened to check the RS website for the first time in months since the EoC full-release right after this news post was released. Figured I would give some input seeing as I can't do it directly to Jagex, and I'm not resubscribing to vote (will explain..). To start this off, I'd like to state that I think it's a great idea in concept, but there's huge flaws with it. I don't think they realise that they ask for a lot of people to stand up and say something about the matter, way too many. I think it's just another scheme to get more cash because there is a very low chance that the voting numbers will go up to the 750,000+ mark to make the "2007scape" release what many desire it to be. There's been a lot of talk about how people will pay extra just to have the old game back, and all that. Of course, I don't think this is true for everyone and it shouldn't be. To be honest, you're paying an extra premium just for access to a worse-looking game that has much less content than it did just before the EoC release. Not to mention that it will have little-to-no protection against botting and all that, which everyone has hated for a long period of time. As much as I loved the game whenever it was the best (some time around 2006-2008 IMO), it'll never be the same even if it's the same game. The community, the item quantities, the bot:player ratio, everything will be overwhelmingly different that no one in their right mind will play it at some point. Be it early-stage or years from now, it will die off. All that comes from the assumption of only reaching 250,000+ votes towards releasing "2007scape", which is easily the most likely in my eyes. Now, there are a few other things I want to address. I quickly skimmed over what the news post had, because I wasn't enthusiastic or very interested in this to begin with. There are some factors that could completely change my outlook on the subject that may have been mentioned in this post but I'll continue without caring about that.. There would be a separate team for this from the original people behind the "EoCscape" there is currently; why worry about them taking resources away from their current, supposed megacommunity, game development? If they reconstructed a "new Runescape" based on the old mechanics and whatnot, meaning different content from what the current game has, that would be epic as all hell. What I'm implying is basically having regular updates for a game with no EoC bullcrap in it, with it having a completely different path of updates than it had from August 2007 and on. That would be amazing, and I'm sure that's what a ton of people wish for. Even if they just added in everything between August 2007 up until Nov 17th 2012 or whenever, I'd be just as happy. With all the above Bs said, there is a negative percent chance of any of that happening at this point. It'll just be a bunch of servers in an identical setup to Classic, with possible added fees over the current cost of membership, and yeah; it'll maintain itself financially if it goes through (which is why they don't care that much about doing it), but it won't last. This was the whole argument about the EoC being released to begin with. They keep swatting at a beehive until all the bees get pissed off and leave. Some may stay in the area but it's always never the same as before.
  18. This isn't the first time someone has said something similar to this. I remember hearing people saying the same thing when rs2 was coming out. Welcome to Whinescape. Quite positive Rs classic to Rs2 conversion wasn't as heavy of a change as Rs2 to EoC is.. That was a dissapointing comment to read. I second the post by Squab.
  19. Depends who you meet/when they played, so on. The 'childish game' thing comes to mind the most, where people got turned off it when they got older, etc. I've invested enough time into it at specific points in my life where I had something worth coming back to. Those who I know that've quit didn't (besides my brother). My brother quit because he found it boring, which it really is now. I've spent more time on this game than he has and have more to 'lose' if I were to really quit. Since EoC announcement, I've finally accepted that the time spent was merely for enjoyment and I need to stop playing just for the sake of preserving what I've gotten through that time spent playing just for fun. This has been long awaited, the kind of 'epiphany' I've been searching for in terms of why I even play still or want to quit at all. I've been slowly killing the game for myself these last 2.5 ish months. Once I realised that there IS an area of the game truly worth playing (Hi, Dungeoneering), but nothing else, I really didn't feel like playing the game for anything except that area. Thus, I became bored with what was just bits and pieces of the same game I played when I was younger, and saw that it was only a game and not a posession of mine. Anyway, I was mainly trying to give both sides of the cookie for this discussion. Most people who dislike the game hated the gameplay type if they played it (it's a lot like any turn-based game, Yu-Gi-Oh cards come to mind..), never got attached to it enough, or grew out of it altogether. That's really the only bad wrap RuneScape can get in my opinion. It's a great game if you can grasp onto something and enjoy it, but if you don't then you're kind of destined to move onto something more quickly enjoyable. Hence why the Call of Duty franchise has soared, and WoW is still the most popular MMO to date. You can pick up Call of Duty and immediately enjoy quick, faster-paced interactive gameplay either on campaign or specifically online. World of Warcraft has an immediate Go-Do-This-Quest aspect as soon as you make a character, as well as PvM everywhere. Just a bit tiring of a game once you reach higher end gameplay like every other game I've ever seen or played. Just my ten cents on the subject, it's just a game like any other.
  20. Please don't joke about things like that.
  21. Hey, I searched a few worlds, maybe 5, for anyone playing FoG on free-play. I recently lost membership and have no way to get it again soon. So I want to spend a little time messing around while I can, but FoG seems empty. Is this common, or is there a clan/world that's secretly holding all players? Please let me know. Also, I think it'd be helpful for someone to point me to a F2P (entirely I mean) clan that focuses on events like that. Thanks in advance and I hope everyone reads this. Any tips on how to get FoG tokens for my 'zerker kite - totally worth it - let me know. I'm short just over 100 for another 4? hour recharge, but I guess I could use some robe recharges in case I do curse-bolt'ing on lesser or greater demons. Edit: time zones and time frames of activity may be important, if you think it is, post that as well! Thanks!
  22. As much as I hate to hoard items, including skill items, you should definitely hold onto charms until you either a: find a consistent money source, or b: can afford to splurge on a great level. I'd recommend trying to use a majority of just gold charms at lower levels and getting at least a terrorbird. That's a decent familiar for numerous things such as some PvM, agility and quests. Everything else, specifically blues/maybe crimsons, should be SAVED for later when they are the absolute best for you to use. If you can do it, get about 800k+ gp before this upcoming Saturday-Tuesday and snipe some cheap spirit shards off the Grand Exchange. It won't be many shards, but 800k in shards straight to summoning at a lower level will boost gold charms HUGELY. Obtaining charms is just a matter of time/effort, slaying is a worthwhile method - whilst I recommend camping something that generates acceptable profit/hour for yourself. As for what to make, it's rather easy to use this page: https://docs.google....UE9UWHRGU3VNQUE. It's Grimy Bunyip's spreadsheets for finding out the best training methods for your income and level. Credits go to Xp-waste.com and Grimy Bunyip. Edit: Combine TIp.It's summoning calc/planner with this, and you have a great method of theorizing your training methods. Just look for something that is cheap per xp or high xp/h yet still affordable for you (learn to use the sheets before buying anything - worth it). After that, it's smooth sailing. Mind you, Grimy has been busy with other things IRL so some sheets may not work as well as possible, but a good amount are useful for xp-rates alone and you can calculate cost based on median G.E. prices. Sorry for the dreadfully long post, but GOOD LUCK! Summoning takes time unless you camp things (like rock lobs lol).. Edit2: Since I mentioned this weekend, I might as well say that it really isn't worth spending your time or money on DXPW for summoning xp. You likely won't need it that badly/have enough charms by then, so focus on other things that will benefit you more. Keep in mind that herbs and stuff may shift in price, either causing you loss or giving you opportunity to make more money. This weekend is important for your gameplay, so be cautious and aware. Have fun!
  23. This was already possible for me, bloom just won't work in fixed (or does it now..). Dunno what was wrong for you guys :s. Where are the Hallowed costume vs wtfever else costume pics? I wanna know which side to pick x_x
  24. Awesome Balth. G's on all level-ups and points for the methods of doing so =).
