Icuownage
*pokes head in the Tavern door* "Hi guys!" *withdraws again*Miss you! I second that. Where is Vixion as well :S? Anyway, started my AS levels today, and the only two subjects I had both ask for homework, so I will probably be too busy doing that, as I am too afraid not to do it. Only the chemistry homework will prove any difficulties though, as the teacher wants us to pick a fuel and then advertise it for her. It's a REALLY big shaft.I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time? Icuownage
I picked hydrogen. She gave us a list. Also I think it is meant to be replacing petrol, so nuclear powered cars are a no. The list was:HydrogenMethaneLiquified Petroleum GasMethanolEthanolBiodisiel It's a REALLY big shaft.I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time? The_Mather1
Think osmotic. A car that uses an osmotic generator instead of a hydrogen fuel cell. Imagine that, running your car on sea- and freshwater! Twitter: @TheMather1
Retech
Nuclear power cars are a yes! Think about cruising around in the desert, when your fuel tank runs dry! Oh no, what ever shall you do! Oh wait, I have a spare rod of Uranium in the trunk, let me go get it! Or you could use an electric car...with the electricity from nuclear power. Master of your domain? Icuownage
I'm not terribly good with this stuff... But wouldn't a nuclear powered car require a sort of nuclear power generator in the car? Isn't that pretty unsafe, the car would have to have a heavy shielding around it, as to not be dangerous, this would slow the car down, and also make it dangerous when car crashes do happen, so I do believe a nuclear powered car is a no. Also Mather wouldn't a car that runs on freshwater and sea water be only heavily used in coastal areas? Though if there is such a thing (again I am not too good with this) then it would be useful in such areas, or countries like Japan. The_Mather1
That would be a nuclear car, well, unless it actually ran on steam or nukes. Twitter: @TheMather1

Retech
Sure, why not? What's the harm of having a small nuclear power plant in everyone's car? Master of your domain? Iconic
What people don't understand about nuclear power is that it uses fans to produce energy, this requires large space. I feel that heat powered cars would be best, you'd have to stick a heat generator in. [Falador tavern]
The_Mather1
What nuclear power does is to produce heat which is used with water boilers to produce steam which travells through a turbine, fans are unrelated. Anyways, would be fun to design the world's first osmotic/saline car, no? Twitter: @TheMather1
Seraphi
The thing would be enormous though. It would be better off being powered by electricity and then generating the electricity elsewhere using saline/nuclear/whatever. Also Icon, nuclear power doesn't use fans. I believe you are thinking of turbines.
The_Mather1
Actually Ross, it wouldn't, imagine the front of a normal SUV, it is pretty big, all of that is engine and cooling, neither of which are anywhere in electric cars. Now imagine the front of said SUV containing a osmotic generator, a cannister with salt and fresh water sepparated by a membrane, theh it would be connected to several batteries before the ending of the internal powerline at electric motors either at each wheel or axle. You'd have plenty of space, more than decent milage and you could even have enough electricity to drive a long way after running out of water. It would also be a plus in survival sistuations, if your car breaks down you can get water from the freshwater tank and in a zombie invasion you'd only need to go to the beach to refuel. Iconic
Fan/Turbine, they work interchangebly (I am aware that they totally don't)The point I'm making is that nuclear power needs a lot of space. Also uranium shouldn't be made avalible to the general public. [Falador tavern]
The_Mather1
Nothing needs a lot of space, everything can be done small scale. Twitter: @TheMather1
Icuownage
I agree with Iconic, not only does it require a ton of space, it also requires a ton of maintenence, because if something goes wrong, well it is a HORRIBLE disaster. That is why nuclear power IMO will never be used in cars directly, but there is nothing wrong with powering objects with nuclear power that can then be used to power the car. Iconic
Icu, I also feel that uranium shouldn't get into the wrong hands, its nearly impossible to get at the moment.Lets please forget about the (supposition) open uranium storage facilitys in Russia, even if they exist it would still be hard to exit Russia with sticks of uranium and all. If anyone regulary watches ted they will have heard about them. Personally I dislike electric cars because they produce noise increasing the chance of being ran over, cars should make loud noises to avoid people being ran over. [Falador tavern]
Retech
I disagree. Noise pollution is far more disruptive than getting run over, especially since you can't exactly avoid noise pollution.
