Icuownage
Due to climate change around the time of the asteroid, I guess their traits became less useful, they gained wings to escape fast predators, large predators like the t-rex probably died out quickly after the climate change. They lost their scales because with wings they had another method of escape which was much more effective and the scales might of weighed em down. Smaller because it's easier to fly, and a more aerodynamic physique cause of the whole flight thing. Flightless birds, I can't explain. It's a REALLY big shaft.I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time? The_Mather1
Rocco, DNA is not that simple.Say these are their specific genes:Arms x2Scales x2Lean x2Teeth x2 Then there comes in one like this:Arms x2Scales x2Feathers x1Lean x2Teeth x2 It still has scales. Then its offspring gets the feather gene. Eventually some ofspring of that breeds with another with that gene and their offspring gets feathers, say then it still is accepted since those a rudimentary feathers not to different from the scales. Then the arms develop into wings the same way.Eventually they learn to fly and the better feathers and wings are carried on since those with them survive the best.Eventually the teeth are changed for beaks since the most aerodynamic ones survive more often. That continues for many generations and they grow more and more like birds. However that change takes hundreds of millenia siince it is actually the DNA, not the genes that change first. Twitter: @TheMather1

The_Mather1
No, one gene = Entire DNA strand + proteins. The dna changes, the gene is only slightly modified, that said we have more than 50% the same DNA sequence as flowers. Retech
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene A gene is a sequence of DNA which codes a kind of protein, or serves some function. The_Mather1
Rocco, there are, they just have different names as they lasted long enough to be their own species:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinosauropteryxhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caudipterixhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anchiornis_huxleyihttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archaeopteryxhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confuciusornis EDIT: I thought you meant currently. Retech
Except there isn't a single gene that controls most traits. There probaly isn't a "wing" gene or an "arm" gene. Retech
... Those are chromosomes. If we only had 23 traits, then don't you think everyone would look almost exactly the same? The_Mather1
Genes = chromosomes, they are what we get from our parents. No, there are more than two alternatives for them, say we have an avarage of ten different sets for each 2310 is a large number, 41,426,511,213,649 to be exact. The_Mather1
They're not litterally the same, but each gene controls the function of one chromosome. Twitter: @TheMather1
Retech
We can't be certain about that either, but there is more than one gene to influence a Chromosome. Master of your domain? Iconic
Creationism will win every debate because it can't lose. Interpretation of the Bible changes every generation. People used to take it literally, now, people like me take it as a moral code. Scientists can argue about evolution all they want, but there's no way to prove that there isn't a God. It's simply not possible. Its also the reason why agnosticism is the best choice :P Dungeoneering's on and your a player Rocco, do you want to play?
