I Would Like to Thank Tif Administration

Featured Replies

Well to start off I'd like to thank Tif Administration for giving me a 3 month bank that ended today.

I'm not being sarcastic either.

3 months ago, the ban gave me the final courage to break away from RS and the community completely. I had quit RS before, but Tif always made me come back in one way or another. In the beginning, I was pissed off at the Tif admins and pretty much thought they needed to seriously take a chill pill, but it actually helped my life as a whole. I managed to successfully quit this time around. For the last 3 months, I had no desire at all to come back. This at first felt like a good thing.

Over the course of the 3 months, the people who knew me in real told me I've changed. They said I've become a much nicer, funnier person. My tennis coach who I just started to interact with for the first year a few weeks ago told me that this year he sensed a much greater level of maturity. Somehow being disconnected has changed me for the better. I sensed that I was taking a lot more chances in real life with friends and girls, and I finally noticed who my real friends were. I've gotten better at many different aspects of my life which were probably taken up by tif and RS.

For the last few months, I was rarely at home. I became seriously involved in school activities and extra curriculars, and every time I did end up having some free time, all I wanted to do was go out. I didn't want to do the opposite (stay inside).

However, I feel like this time around, moderation was all I needed. The three month ban helped me quit an addiction and start occasional posting, and I have to thank tif admins for doing so.

Oh, and I became addicted to 9gag.

I didn't expect to find off topic this empty though. What happened in the last 3 months that made it emptier?

Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.

I think it was you who posted about it and got me hooked on it. Dammit, Gabe.

I can't really say why OT has been so slow lately. Possibly we're too busy on 9gag because of you now. But OT does go through cycles of activity/inactivity, and I think this is just us on the inactivity phase right about now.

Cluster quits. Same principle as cluster suicides I suppose, though much less serious. Nice that your life is working out well. MMO's really do kill your social abilities. OffTopic is full of people that have made this revelation [which is why we hang around OffTopic haha]

Nice to see you again

If you find yourself spending too much time on a video game or a forum site, getting banned is a good way to disconnect since you no longer have anything to return to that keeps you distracted from real life. Some people would argue that that demonstrates a lack of self-control in the first place and and that you're basically an idiot if you have to resort to getting banned, but at least you're making the effort to eliminate any distractions from your goals in real life. I think that's the only thing that really matters.

Anyway, hope you enjoy what you're doing with your life.

SWAG

Yeah, OT is a pretty cool guy.

Nice to see someone took the situation and made it an opportunity to improve themselves. Sadly, I feel bad for actually forgetting about you too, and my memory is rather good.

Welcome back by the way.

Good to hear Gabe, welcome back :) And yeah, sometimes OT just seems pretty dead, it's how we roll

As an aside, after what I've found out about Reddit recently, I'm not planning on ever going there again. Long story short, it's basically 4chan except hidden behind a respectable looking site.

Congrats to you, really happy to see this happen for you. :)

I think it's unfair to compare them to 4chan. Reddit is so much worse.

Although, Reddit recently made the measures to clean it up a bit.

Haha almost thought about applying for moderator just now.

But I don't spend a lot of time on 9gag, but it's fun to view new posts.
