jeremy4444
You guys should have a livestream or a radio but yea a live stream would be epic... Livestream events, pking, dueling, whatever. Have a player gallery and have dedicated players sign up and run livestreams each day. You could do polls to see what people really wanna see and work off that and find players to host the livestreams. Host them on this site on some page, could do guides and save them for reviewing or as a guide for jad or a quest, etc.
Leik
Live stream of what exactly? This isn't exactly a good or in-depth suggestion, so I'll give you some time to improve it before I lock this topic. EDIT: That's much better. :) And that's actually a rather interesting idea. Kimberly
I wouldn't mind if someone did an unofficial livestream on justin.tv or something of the TMHT bosshunts. It would get kind of boring though. I mean, if you're just watching it you might as well go to the event.
Stev
I mean, if you're just watching it you might as well go to the event.Bingo, but people can load it up in a few seconds and see, "Oh look, there's still 50 people there and they're doing pretty well. Yeah, I'll head there." I see it as greatly attracting people to the events. ;). When I used to think of events we'd hold, I pictured a few people in a boss room - the same sight I see daily. When I go to zammy, sara, etc... It astounds me the amount of people standing there, talking, killing, having an awesome time. If people can see the events apart from a small banner on the home page and announcement thread, I think we'd get much bigger turnouts. Pictures are one thing, but actually seeing it and being there is a completely different story. :).

It went offline for technical reasons ages ago (like 6+ months) but since no one used it, we never brought it back online (unless Peter did more recently). - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
Stev
Skype is the new TeamSpeak. :P. I didn't mean to hijack it, but the OP did say events and so I showed my support and views on the events aspect. Now that I think about it... It'd also be great for RuneScape's weekly updates! Take the latest one, for example; A quest. People could watch and follow along while the person did the quest, while also taking notes and doing the quest themselves at the same time. They could also discuss to others about the nerfed effigies. Or, say a new training method was released. The person could go an explore, live, the new content. Using the quest example from before as well as this, it'd show people without the requirements what to do when they do get them... And until then, what they're missing out on without having to wait a few days for videos to spring up on YouTube. Look how many views many of the update threads get when RuneScape updates. Quests and things get reloaded by people every 5 seconds searching for the solution, secrets, tactics, and just trying to get a glimpse of someone posting new content. Now take all those people, and show them a live video feed. Botting in Runescape, a very popular thread posted on the 7th of August now has 34,000 views. 14-Feb-2012 - TzHaar Quest... posted on just the 14th of February; it has 24,000. It's already beating 19 of the 25 threads on the first page in views. The update threads get the largest amounts of hits because people want to see the content before they have a chance to do it themselves. People wanting help and guidelines on quests that are released and their rewards. I really hope to see this!
Mercifull
Who would film it though? Would it follow a specific individual or would a stooge with an orb of occulus just stand there and film? MageUK
I agree with Stev here actually, live streams would be nice, I like to watch stuff as it's something I can still do if I'm busy doing something else. Also, if you've never been to an area before it's nice to see someone else and how it's done, also you can learn something from their tactics and what they do. I wonder how many people watched Castle War's live stream on YouTube of him doing the Fight Kiln on the day it came out... I know I did.

Laikrob
Yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed watching that. I don't usually watch RS videos, it's just different when it's happening in real time and you can join in if you want to - either as a participant or a spectator. People flocked to TzHaar W34 to congratulate Castle Wars, and you could join MH events even if you were unable to play at the starting time of the event. You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now? Dudecrush8
This is a great idea. Much like starcraft (but not really the same), it is very entertaining to watch people (who are good) play through new/difficult content live. It would be perfect for update days. Also, I can reccomend twitch.tv. It is a great platform and is embeddable in external pages. Perfect. Danqazmlp
So how would it be implemented? Would it be a section of the forums like the gallery where you can select videos, or would it simply be a forum where topics are posted with a link to a video? Want to be my friend? Sy_Accursed
Seems like a nice idea, assuming the people to do the streams can be recruited efficiently. And there are a few issues to perhaps consider, egLive streaming new content, is the bandwidth costs worth it when looking at average users online at update times? Can the servers handle it? We all know the forums have crashed out on us a few times on major updates due to user volume. The website could crash out at a lower volume for a higher bandwidth usage like streaming video. If videos are being implemented could other uses be applied to them? Such as could we develop video guides to go alongside the quest guides?
