But as of right now, I dont have access to any real good crush weapon, besides maybe the ancient staff. Would a vine whip + ddf work better, or should I still shoot for using a crush weapon, even if it cant be one of the better ones?

March 20, 201214 yr Well frankly, waterfiends suck at your level if you don't have a good crush weapon. With that being said, I think that ancient staff or dragon battleaxe would be better choices. Just pot often and pray piety the entire time. Working on max and completionist capes. 2435/2475

And I dont like to borrow, because then I feel rushed.The only other decent option is goliath gloves but for that you will have to finish quite a number of quests. Honestly if you cannot access any of these weapons then leave them blocked, they are quite slow as it is and will be even more so with inferior weapons like verac's flail/dragon spear/guthan's spear or whatever it is people use as a crush weapon.
March 20, 201214 yr Ancient Staff + Dragon Defender is probably your best bet, failing which Dragon Battleaxe + Dragon Defender > Verac's Flail > Guthan's Spear I personally used Ancient Staff + Rune Defender before and it wasn't really that great, though, but it'd definitely be better than a vine whip. In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

March 21, 201214 yr Do you have (or can you get) a Barrelchest Anchor? It's an often overlooked and much underappreciated crush weapon. It's what I used before I got a ZS/SS. I tested it against various options and found it to be better than anything else I could get my hands on at the time. If you can't even get that, then just leave waterfiends blocked. They're too annoying to fight without a good crush weapon. March 23, 201214 yr the obsidian mace with a berserker necklace is on par with ss/zs .. but you probably can't afford the necklace.
