The answers will be added daily as they are solved, and each day will be contained within its own hide tag. I can add a super condensed version at the end on the last day if that's what people want.

Last couple of CCFs it was midday/early afternoon BST clues went up to give a frame of reference

The Cryptic Clues of Sherlock Hulmes

 

Sherlock Hulmes is an esteemed detective within Gielinor, aiding Roddeck with his initial Cryptic Clues from a couple of years ago, he has returned to solve an even more deviously difficult clue. Someone has been going around and hiding some potentially harmless items around RuneScape then removing them again! Preposterous! Using Sherlock Hulmes' powers of deduction and observation - can you solve the mysteries and guess what items were hidden?

 

Item 1

 

On the bush nearby the item, traces of an avian species was found as the items brushed past the bush

 

Whilst rummaging on the ground nearby, I caught a splinter in my hand which was curious - I was about 6 feet away from the nearest tree

 

The items had definitely seen some use and been weathered, a bluish rust was found at the scene of the hiding

 

Item 2

 

'Hidden' out by the Saradomin statue east of Varrock, the item was laid but when removed, a small damp patch lay where it sat

 

When the culprit removed the item, there was a struggle as if part of the item had solidified while trying to remove it

 

Part of the item that got left behind was a solid substance, it had turned a colour crossed between brown and orange

 

Item 3

 

Down in the Rimmington onion field the item was found, when removed again expensive gemstone dust was found

 

Whilst investigating the field, I found an onion uprooted with what looked like a stab wound

 

The crafty devil had covered his tracks with this item, I can't find anything other than the dust and the uprooted onion

Explanations for any who care to know (since I was right)

Item 1

Avian species = Chicken = feathers

Splinter = wood = some sort of wood in item.

Wood + feathers = some form of arrow.

Blueish rust = metal that is blue, rune arrows are p2p therefore must be mithril.

So mithril arrow.

 

Item 2

Small damp patch left behind = contains liquid in some way.

Solidified = Something that can be wet that then goes hard in some way

Only item in game that can be wet but dries out to turn hard is wet clay or molten glass.

Molten glass is members and would scorch rather than leak water.

Wet Clay fits the bill as it is orangey brown when fired. (pots, bowls etc.)

So Wet Clay.

 

Item 3

Gem Stone dust = Involves gems so pickaxes, chisels, jewellery

Stabbed an Onion = Something point that could stab so pickaxe or chisel.

Crafty Devil = crafting = chisel.

You have to do all the days in order and you have to take the basket thing with you every time.

Grr I got confused. I thought I took the items from clue one to Essjay to get the basket, then the items from clue two to her contact. But I needed to take the items from clue one to Essjay's contact and the items from clue two to the following contract. I didn't expect to use the first items twice.

Does it have anything to do with the white dots? They're the only things not marked. What would be at those locations?

I feel like the white dots all land on item spawns.

 

Top right is somewhere between Sarim and Rimmington.

Top left is somewhere south of the furnace in Al-Kharid

Bottom Left should be a little NE of Champs guild near the mine.

 

Edit: Should clarify I was going around the blue square not the outer ones.
