My beloved RuneScape...

Featured Replies

GRuneScape!!! What has happened to you!!! You were my favorate, but then diseases happened. The squeal of fortune. Solomons general store. Turning taverly into a starting city and combining it with Burthorpe. Firing the Lumbridge sage, replacing Roddeck, and then making him useless except for saying:

"Use the Task System, that's my advice!"

He is an advisor you idiots, he is supposed to GIVE ADVICE!!! And whatever Jagex says, buying spins to get xp and money, IS REAL WORLD TRADING AND NOTHING WILL CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE YOU IDIOTS AT JAGEX WHO CLAIM TO BE TRYING TO "INCREASE REVENUE!!!" REAL WORLD TRADING IS REAL WORLD TRADING!!! THATS THE LAW OF NON-CONTRADICTION YOU JUST DESTROYED!!! Remember those, Jagex? They are called the Laws of Thought. You can not say we can not sell gold for real money (which I hate, dont get me wrong) so that you have a darn monopoly on the RWT market!!! If you do it its allowed, and since it is a disgrace to allow it, DONT DO IT YOURSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so if someone reading this knows somebody in the financial department for Jagex, tell them please. PLEASE!?! PLEASE!?! PLEASE!?! PLEASE!?! PLEASE!?! PLEASE!?! you know my opinion. I just want my belove runescape back... I want to argue with people in the Varrock bar that Armadyl is sooo much better than all the others. I want RuneScape...

As much as I like the squeal of fortune for giving me free stuff, I have to agree with you on one thing. Buying the spins for that is real world trading. How they can claim otherwise is way beyond me.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but change is just something that you have to deal with. RuneScape is a game that changes every day, a lot of changes might suck to you, but there isn't much we can do about change.

i want the old runescape too, but this one of the most poorly written rants i've seen.

IMHO Burthorpe and Taverly are way better than they used to be, aside from the loading bug. They were almost useless before, and now can help new players get to grips with the game (no easy feat, considering the size and number of skills we have), the advisors in these areas replace the need for them elsewhere.

I wish they would remove RWT too, but the rose-coloured glasses seem to blind people to the fact that things were often just as bad in the 'old Runescape.'

Meh, whilst you were playing your beloved runescape there were older players lamenting the loss of THEIR beloved runescape because it was giving way to yours. Change will always continue to occur in MMORPGs, some players will adapt and some will quit.

Roddeck was an idiot anyway, the only time he popped up to "help" was when I was hopping worlds for a boss to tell me to "get an axe from the woodcutting tutor in lumbridge and chop logs for gp".

From the empty days of hope, deny the darkness
Follow my voice, we'll run far away from here

If only to hide, to escape this life
And live forever, forever in the sun

I don't even know who roddeck is lol.

I don't mind the squeal of fortune to be honest - and whether or not it is considered Real World Trading or not matters very little.

There are reasons Real-World Trading is banned among players, and it isn't just in the fairness of the game. Every single thing in the game; every character, every item, every coin, is owned by Jagex - your character and your items are legally the property of Jagex. As such, you can not sell those items/coins/characters as you can not legally sell another legal entity's property without their permission.

Jagex however can sell their own property - so they are 100% allowed to sell wheel spins - just be grateful they aren't literally selling gold and items directly like a lot of other MMORPG companies do....

- Just remember, change is required in order to progress and thrive in an ever-changing industry. If Runescape hadn't had these changes, the game would have died many years a go, and god knows what you would be doing now. Just because you are feeling Nostalgic over a dated time, and this nostalgia has caused you to be blind to all the excellent changes that have happened within the game since the initial release, doesn't mean Runescape is now ruined.

In my opinion Runescape is now a lot better, and although some changes I don't agree with - I, like all other players who know that change is required, will get used to these changes, embrace the better aspects of these changes, and get on with my gameplay.

If you do not like change, then you've been playing the wrong type of game to begin with.

I am an old-school player and while I always had fond thoughts for Travelry, I kind of like it the way it is now. Though not everthing is perfect(the new layout is kind of weird at times), but still I like the addition of the bank, the loadstone, and proximity to the the POH portal, are some of my favourite aspects about it. I don't know what to think about the Burthrope revamp, or the the turning of the place into a newbie hotspot, but I am not overly bothered by them.

SoF and Solomon's are indeed RWT. Even though I don't scream out my opinion as much as you do, I still have to agree with your views here. However: Except that I like the new starting area and tutorial. I loved to kill those trolls.

I didn't know rants had to be well written. It's the rants section, it's his topic, let him rant like he wants. Who are you to judge the way it is written.

RANTSCEPTION!

While I agree with most of what your saying, I think in the long run a lot of changes are for the better. SOF should go though.

You forget that SOF is what's keeping RS afloat these days. It can no longer survive on membership subscriptions alone.

I can't imagine them getting that much revenue from SOF. I mean i've never actually met anyone who has bought spins, except that guy from runehq who documented the wins of like 300 spins.

^ You've never met anyone who boasted to random strangers in-game about buying spins, therefore almost nobody buys spins and Jagex doesn't make much money from it.
