Quest boss help!

Featured Replies

I have one quest left till quest cape but I can't beat the Tokhaar Hok!

My stats are 82 prayer, 88 herblore, 99 str/att/def/magic

I tried using bandos with chaotic maul to no avail. I'm not dying by the boss and I get quite into the battle but the point I die at is the boss goes to heal, I can't stun him in time, and I die from the lava floor.

So what are some tactics you guys used? And should I stun him repeatedly, even when he's already stunned? Or should I wait for the stun to wear off, and then stun him? Help pls! I pray deflect melee and leech defence w/ penance.

Ice barrage him! Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I can remember, he has no weakness...so I believe that's what I did. At the start, attack him as normal, then slash the Ranger that spawns. After that, lure the Boss to a corner, and just barrage away. Deflect melee should be enough, so just keep your prayer up and avoid the floors when needed.

At that distance, I don't think I ever had to worry about him getting to close to heal because of the continous stun from the Barrage. When using abilities, even though Magic sneaks in a normal spell every now and then, just allow for a spell attack too, after about 3 abilities in a row (in other words - spam 3 abilities, allow a normal hit, and repeat).

I had the same problem, he'd heal a lot for me too, but if you just spam a stun skill (I think I was using the backhand one) as often as you can you should be fine.

This is what I did:

Drag him to the opposite end of the room from the lava fountain, this give you more time to react to stun him.

Keep your stun until he turns around to heal, then stun him on your next available ability time. The stun will ALWAYS hit. DO NOT try to stun him before he starts to turn around.

The time between his attempts to heal should be the same as your stun cooldown, so it is imperative that you keep your stuns available at all times. Mage is the preferred method because the stun, Impact, is a ranged ability, rather than melee stun. Ice spells also work as stun I believe.

One word:

Dreadnips.

When I beat the SOB, I used Chaotic maul with Bandos, and an Extreme set. I had a lot of problems trying to beat him with magic. W/ Melee, just keep interrupting him as soon as the skill timer resets. Every time you activate it, it stuns him, even if he's already stunned. An inventory with about 3 prayer flasks, An Extreme set and rest rocktails did me.

DAMN SON, WHERE'D YOU FIND THIS?

Dad stop, you're scaring me.

Ice barrage worked well for me, 100% stun every attack, he's not very happy :P.

I didnt think of attacking the minions, i just went for hok. I used bandos with bandos godsword, and tanked te lot. Mae it alot harder for myself, asi learnt after that atacking minions make it easier (my logic clearly failed me that day)

I didnt bother with dreadnips, as they are not supposed to be able to be used on quest bosses, might have been a bug.

Took me about 8 trys, but all i can say is be persistant.

I'd advise mage setup with ice barrage, but take a crush wep in with ya.

Down the first ranger fast then he will spawn 3 meleer guys who won't hit you much at all.

Ice mage keeps him perma stunned which removes that stress from you and allows you to focus on avoiding the floors.

Few well timed threshold abilities and he'll die in no time.

Dreadnips are a big help to if you have them.

@Above Dreadnips work on quest bosses EXCEPT those that appear in the tower. Eg they won't work on Nomad or Pest Queen. As long as its not on dom tower roster they work. Other than the other exclusions (Ttrail stuff, Nex, Spirit from pyre ship, tormented wraith, animated armour in guild, barrows bros and edge special slayer monsters)
