I just came back to the game a few days ago and this new squeal of fortune thing is kind of neat

 

Yesterday I had the chance to get a 200m prize and missed it by one spot, so naturally I began to wonder, is it possible to beat Squeal of Fortune? Kind of like that dude who beat the old game show Press Your Luck. Is there any rhyme or reason to the way your spins go? Is it possible to predict where your spin will land based on where you start the spin at? Or is it always randomized?

 

I'm sure someone out there has thought about it before, just wondering if anyone knows if it would be possible, because if so I need to figure out the pattern and get them chips!

The 200m prize is pretty common to see. Not to get. There is no way to beat it, just like there is no way to beat penguins or tears of guthix for example. You can do it and profit, or you can ignore it.

As far as I know (and I might be wrong), your prize is determined before you even click to stop spinning so as to prevent any way of trying to fix your prize. Even if I am wrong though, it is impossible to rig the SoF to get the prize you want or else everyone would be winning 400m gp per day.

There are panels on the wheel on the left as you spin and each one is one of the prizes, and the rare/super rare ones are much smaller than the common ones, so if it actually is chance based, there's a much smaller chance of getting one of them.

No. Jagex would have to be really stupid to allow the wheel to be beaten. Every time you click to spin it generates a random number which is used to select the prize. The wheel is then synced to that. Not the other way around.

As soon as you see the wheel spinning and the row of prizes it has picked what you are winning, the graphics of the wheel slowing etc are meaningless and are pre-rigged to land on the prize it already picked for you.

As far as the whole buying spins thing, does Jagex have no qualms about selling spins despite their stance against rwt? Seems a little hypocritical imo... It would probably also be cheaper to just buy 200m from a third party website than to buy spins and hope you get it, although I know nothing of the gp:dollar ratio so maybe not.

Sadly Jagex seem to have gone down the route of "Someone is making money out of trading, so we may as well make some like that too!"

 

I actually like aspects of the wheel - but thats mostly for the xp lamps which are a nice treat and don't rightly make much difference. In terms of beating it though, my understanding is that the spins are predetermined and should simply be considered an animation. I've seen suggestions of waiting certain time periods for certain slots but this looks to be nonsense/wishful thinking.

Would you allow third-parties to make money off your own intellectual property without authorization?

Jagex has long ago recanted their statement about how real life finances should not be a factor in the game. It fully seems that they are fine having thousands of upset players in order to gain more money from the ones who are willing to spend money for an advantage.

They have also said while the wheel isn't need to keep the game alive, it's needed to help it grow. TBH, this isn't the worst of Microtransactions. A lot more companies do a worse job than Jagex.

 

In any event, while it may be cheaper to buy third party it is safer to do so from Jagex. Or about as safe as buying on the internet from reputable stores can be.
