R u old enough to remember text adventures?

Featured Replies

I don't remember text adventures specifically, but I do remember the original Quest for Glory and all of the King's Quest games.

Used to play them on the BBC Micros ^_^

I remember playing the Wizard of Oz game on a Micro. It always used to end up the same, I'd try and use the banana on the lion and he'd eat me.

Dreaming of that face again

It's bright, and blue, and shimmering

Grinning wide

And comforting me with it's three warm and wild eyes

You kill a kobold. You get two pieces of silver and a kobold tail.

> Kill kobold

You kill a kobold. You get three pieces of silver and an apple.

> What, no tail?

Apparently this was the rare but majestic Manx kobold.

> You said they had tails

You hear a voice in the distance. "LF1M just need any healer ready to go!"

You kill three kobolds. You get eight pieces of silver and four tails.

Maybe it's something in the water around here.

That bit had me laughing ^_^

I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.

I would play them, but that would involve me just sitting there and wondering why on earth I can't get ye flask.

Only one really springs to mind... something like "the adventures of... eric? the undready".... or similar.

Yeah Eric the Unready it was. It wasn't entirely textual, it did have the odd static graphic just to set the scene.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

I head a heap of console games floating around, quite fun to play sometimes :P

Ahh yes, the days when 'the buzz' was all about Infocom's advanced parser.

"You mean I can type 'Walk west, take the knife, attack the goblin' - all at once????"

Why is 'common sense' so named, when there is so little of it about?

Welcome to puberty, we've been expecting you.

I played this one game, called Hugo or something :P You had to get into this mansion and do something... I never got too far. I remember to get into the mansion it was like:

>Walk up steps

You walk up the steps

>Kick Pumpkin

You kick the pumpkin and get a key

>Open door

The door is locked

>Use key on door

You use the key on the door, it is no unlocked

>Open door

You open the door and go inside

Yeah, I never got too far, as I said.... :P

There are 3 Hugo's I believe.

A jungle one

Some mansion / town one

some "spooky" house or whatever.

I got them on a cd of games somewhere :P

Not sure if anyone remembers the original Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy game but it was probably one of the hardest text games i came across, probably due to the randomness of Douglas Adams
