  1. Its not a dumb rule. The reason the rule exists is to protect players from scamming/keylogging etc. web sites set up by unscrupulous people. I do agree that reporting someone for saying Tip.it (or even, dare I say it, RuneHQ) is acting like a mod wannabe. Personally, if I see someone mention Tip.it (or Rune HQ) I normally give them a friendly warning about the rule so that they can avoid getting into trouble from wannabe mods. Sometimes, when I do this I get a lot of verbal abuse from the player concerned, then they get a double report, one for advertising and one for abusive language. Posting a website link (as you would if you wanted to scam/download a keylogger) is not the same as mentioning a site name. Given a site name, most people will 'Google' it (or us whatever their SE of choice is) to obtain the address and some info on the site. If they don't do this, but blindly enter site names into their address bar, they more than likely have several keyloggers resident on their hard-drive long before they happen upon RS or Tip.It.
  2. Do it a thousand times, multiply that by the average cash-in-hand for a RS account, convert that to RL dollars. Compare that to the average amount of cash in a 13-year-old's bank account (if they even have one). Getting it now?
  3. Yes, we did hope that the pointless discussions would be pushed to the bottom, which didn't exactly happen. Bringing back the Genera/Gen P2P boards will not cause the "pointless" threads to go away. Whether we have one board or two, there will be the same amount of "pointless" threads. "What if/what is your favourite" threads started becoming popular around the time that we decided to merge the threads, which caused some people to believe that the merging is what actually cased the mass increase in those kinds of threads.. which I don't think is true (I think it was a mere coincidence). I'm not saying that the creation of a single 'Discussion' board has caused an increase in poor quality threads, merely that the number of poor quality threads on the front page has not DECREASED. What HAS increased is the number of 'Merger is rubbish' threads, which have definitely increased - from an initial level of zero, obviously. All I would like to see is a return to two discussion boards, then let us deal with the subject of 'Thread Quality' on our own board and on our own terms. What's good for P2P may not necessarily be seen as good for F2P. Why let the greater number of F2P'ers decide what is good for the P2P'ers who provide the bulk of the game's income? (And probably Tip.It's too - how many F2P'ers have made contributions compared to P2P'ers? - given that they won't/can't pay $5 dollars a month for RS)
  4. Dumb rules like this are just one reason why games like LOTRO will result in RS dying a death (members anyway).
  5. The following song lyrics are ÃÆââ¬Å¡ÃâéDisney Studios Ltd. We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig in a mine the whole day through To dig dig dig dig dig dig dig is what we like to do It ain't no trick To get rich quick If you dig dig dig With a shovel or a pick In a mine (In a mine) In a mine (In a mine) Where a million diamonds Shine We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig from early morn to night We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig up everything in sight We dig up diamonds By the score A thousand rubies Sometimes more We don't know what we dig them for We dig dig digga dig dig (musical intro) Hi [garden tool]! Hi [garden tool]! Hi [garden tool]! Hi [garden tool]! Hi [garden tool]! Hi [garden tool], Hi [garden tool] It's home from work we go (whistles) Hi [garden tool], Hi [garden tool], Hi [garden tool] Hi [garden tool], Hi [garden tool] It's home from work we go (whistles) Hi [garden tool], Hi [garden tool] (more whistles) Hi [garden tool], Hi [garden tool] Hi [garden tool], Hi [garden tool] Hi [garden tool], Hi [garden tool] Hi [garden tool], Hum Hi [garden tool], Hi [garden tool] It's home from work we go (whistles) Hi [garden tool], hi [garden tool], hi [garden tool], hi [garden tool] I mined..... ... a lot!
  6. I haven't played RS2 for a long time, certainly not long enough to consider myself 'Old School' (my first holiday event gave me a rubber chicken), but even I have noticed the downturn in the game's challenge and community (and yes I include Tip.It in that /controversy). I have pretty much gone over to LOTRO full-time in an attempt to escape the 'kiddie' element' and while I have found that, on the whole, it has more of a mature 'old school' feel, I was not a little dismayed to find that 12 year-olds are playing the game - and acting like them. I don't want to suggest that everyone under 13 is immature and incapable of playing a MMORPG the way it was intended to be played, but the chances of finding a sensible teen player are much lower than the chances of finding a sensible 'twenty-something'+ player, in my experience.
  7. Herblore is the hardest skill, Constuction is just expensive and haven't been out as long as Herblore has. WAS maybe. With the advent of 'Make X' for herblore, it is now a much easier skill to level, expect to see the number of 99 herblorists to increase significantly over the next few months.
  8. I have to say that the basic premise for merging the two discussion threads of "It'll improve the overall quality of Front Page threads" has been clearly disproved by the overall lack of quality in said threads. Just give us back our P2P and F2P boards, and we will all be happy again, and the needless posting of 'Board merger was rubbish' threads (and associated replies) will disappear overnight, leaving bandwidth for more meaningful discussion!
  9. Hasn't this been done REPEATEDLY for a very long time? Can we please have a sticky that's linked to the Hiscore table that just shows the number of 99s in each skill, to save a) the trouble for people making these posts andÃÆââââ¬Å¾Ã¢Ãâæ B) the trouble for browsing users clicking on them?
  10. I would change Jagex's new propensity for making RS more akin to a WOW clone - clan chat, themed servers etc. I LIKE Runescape as it is, just get rid of the auto'ers, gold-farmers and under 13 year olds...before we know it drop-trading and account sharing will be legal....where's it going to stop?

  12. Ahh, lovely I was hoping to find some LOTRO-minded people on Tip.It. Lvl 21 Elf Hunter here, Galandrion is my LOTRO name. By enormous good fortune, I happen to play on Snowbourn. If anyone wants to fellow or just team up (especially for great/north barrows quests) IM me. Lightning, expect an IM imminently... =D>
  13. Definitely 'loved one > strangers'. That's why wars are fought.
  14. Yes but the 8,000 extra for women are to do with clothes, shoes and shopping generally. That's a joke (I hope).
  15. God or no god, I just have to say that this is the most intelligent, well rounded and most reasonably stated position on any issue in any forum that it has ever been my pleasure to read. (I'll let you off for the spelling mistakes just this once  )
  16. Way to put the rest of our threads into perspective. I don't know how old you are, but I'm guessing you're kinda young to be reminded of how fragile life is. I suppose its nice that you have somewhere like Tip.It to come to for support, and its nice that Tip.It is a nice enough place that people come here for that kind of support. I can only wish you, your mother and the rest of your family the very best and hope that you mother's condition improves sufficiently for her to enjoy many more years and to enjoy watching her grandchildren (you get busy now y'hear  ) growing up.
  17. This is a game forum, no offence but would you walk out into the street and ask the first person you saw with a T-shirt by a band you liked for medical advice? (Which might possibly be crucial to your future health and well-being) Go to a professional medical person, even if it means a busy A&E department in a major city, it'll be safer than taking advice from a bunch of (possibly drunk), unqualified people - no offence to Tip.Iters (I am one too, after all)
  18. Good track, but a bit more 'Pop' than 'Dance' I would say, but I am open to disagreement..
  19. This may have been said/quoted before but 14 pages? anyhoo... Answer: A bloody good time if both parties know what they are doing, a bloody disappointing time if they don't.
  20. That would be by Darude. Good call and first contender for the playlist.
  21. With reference to my post, the kind of track you would hear in a club i.e. nightclub - where alcohol would be consumed... you get the picture.
  22. That's what I was thinking! It sounds to me like he's describing one certain girl.   Oooooooooh! I second that. Honestly, smelling a girl's scent isn't the first thing I do in the morning. And neither would you enjoy appreciating any random woman. Maybe you want to specify a certain lady you are thankful for? And I do hate to hear the generalizations that women are "calm, thoughtful, compassionate and clever" and that men are "egoistic, uncouth brutes". Men and women are very equal in those characteristics, or at least enough so to not generalize either sex. In love...or just got lucky? Speaking as a some-what cynical 30ish ( :-w male, yes, some women are wonderful, but some just AREN'T. If you're lucky - VERY LUCKY - you'll never know what I'm talking about
  23. I was inspired to post this by hearing a track in a club tonight that I haven't heard for years. But when I heard it I thought 'Oh Yes! This was a killer'. The track I'm talking about is "I'm a Dreamer" by 'Living Joy' (those of you who are not of 'a certain age' probably won't remember it). I did a search for 'Best Dance Track' but the first two pages didn't meet the criteria of my question - one was a WOW thread???? (and who can be bothered to look further these days? - OK some but not me)... So what is your 'Best Dance Track Ever'? I'll monitor this thread and if I get a good response, I'll put together a 'Best Dance Playlist Ever' Edit - About to be moved/locked 'cos I've been reported....Must be wrong forum? P.S. If you have views on a posted 'Best track' post 'em (or edit your own post) and I'll take them into account for the playlist.
  24. I just think that a process of attrition denude the older (hopefully more mature) players, until all that are left will be the children. Then subscriptions will fade away and RS2 will die. By then, of course, Jagex will have releaed RS3 - subscription only of course.
  25. I'm english just so you know but the americans actually use a language closer to what we "created". Where we have added 'U's that the americans don't have derives from the fact that the language we speak no is largely a compendium of earlier languages. Losing the 'U' is closer to forms of archiac english. And we Americans keep you British twits from being blown up... But only the British twits, for some reason we dont protect the nice ones... :-k By the way I think its Archaic English, not Archiac English  P.S. I spell with the extra 'U' in some words and Im American... It looks more mideval and I like it. : Actually, in light of recent events in the Middle East we 'British Twits' find ourselves far more likely to be blown up than we have for several years, thanks largely to your president. I think you'll find its spelled 'Medieval". Since the term "Archaic" is generally used to denote a period of 500-1500 AD or thereabouts, to talk about a written 'English' language of that time is meaningless, since the ability to read & write was restricted to a very small minority of the population, and the communication of language was overwhelmingly verbal at that time. The current disparity between 'British' and 'American' spellings came about as a result of Webster's dictionary in the early nineteenth century.
