runesmithie - rap for formal a formal dance? Seems out of place to me :?

Don't know what else to call it, I probably have the wrong word :P

But stuff like My Hump and Skeet skeet skeet (whatever the name of it was :P )

I honestly don't want to go  . I'm old enough to go.. I just don't want to. First of all I don't know anyone that I would want to go with; I don't like many girls at my school. If I did know someone who I would like to take I would consider going though. Second of all the only reason I would go unless I liked a girl would be to go just so I can say "Yeah I'm going to prom," and not feel like a stereotypical nerd who didn't go to prom in highschool. But I decided I don't care. Third of all, from what I have gathered from other people:

-You spend 30 minutes to hours taking pictures, but I guess it depends on how girly the girl is, or how annoying the parents are :D

-You have to spend a ton of money, which isn't too big of a deal, but worth noting.

-The dancing. I heard at our prom, mostly there are ©rap songs and people dirty dancing most of the time, with the occasional slow dance song, which usually sucks since it might be sung by some crappy artist that teens today love.

It just doesn't sound like any fun to me. If I liked someone I would much rather just have a nice evening with just the 2 of us, maybe at a nice restaurant or something like that.

That's just my view on prom :?

:D You should go anway, Kido. You'll look back on it later in life and wished you would have.

You might be right, but even if I did want to go, finding a girl that I would actually want to go with would be another story. Anyways I still have another year in high school. :(

I never really thought of that. I'm trying to think of an excuse to not go by myself, but I can't think of any. You got me  . The prom is in a couple weeks though but I might consider that next year if I don't have a date.

Yeah that's true, but isn't the purpose of going to the prom with a date to dance with them and have a good time lol? What's there to do though if you go by yourself? Just the dinner beforehand and afterparty?

Had my senior prom last year, and i'm flying to Minnesota to go to my girlfriend's junior prom in may. I had lots of fun at my prom, i went stag, and left with a girl. The school sponsored afterparties are actually more fun than anyone would imagine. So all of you second guessers about this "i don't wanna go because i don't have a date" quit bsing yourself and go have some fun.

I didn't go to prom, and I'm so glad I didn't. Somehow, $100 for a ticket and then a dress, limo, etc. just didn't seem worth it to me. Quite frankly, it just didn't appeal to me much at all. Fortunately for me, my absence from prom led to one of the best days I've had in a long time. It was definitely one of the better decisions I made. But if you think you might enjoy yourself, go for it.

I decided to save myself $180 by not going to prom because I didn't have a date...

Yes I asked...

But anyway, I'm kinda glad I'm not going. I can hang out with some of my friends who also aren't going and just have a good time.

Subway? Aha, nice. I drove my dad's 92 Ford Escort and got lost downtown. Who needs a limo anyways. :P

You got lost? At prom?? :P That stinks! BTW, if I went to prom, I'd be driving my dad's '92 Camry. I agree about the whole limo thingie.

I'm currently transitioning from a Wizard to a Mage and a Priest to an Archpriest. Lol both are nonexistant in the top 25. Hopefully I can change that. :D

I'm not going.

- Too much money, not going to waste 45$ for my self, 45$ for a date and more money on other crap.

- Don't see a big deal in prom, its just another dance. I mean, can't people go out and dance anytime?

- I'd be boored. I don't like dancing, nor do I realy want to hang out at my school for hours.

yay, senior not going to prom ftw.

At my prom, the real reason to go is to go to the school sponsored after party

Seniors that attend school here will walk out with over $100 in prizes and gifts (tv's, minifridges, college stuff), Juniors will usually get around 40 bucks worth of stuff, and dates that don't go to school here get around 20 bucks worth of stuff in prizes

 That'd be a pretty good reason to go. At my school, it was $90+ a head (and even at that price it didn't cover the cost of prom) with nothing of the sort.

What the. Your school district must be RICH. The SFUSD would never be able to fund such a party :(

The best thing we had was a chocolate fountain. :D

we have an after party too, but again, I don't want to spend all that money for something that doesn't interest me at all.

@ weezcake: Chocolate fountain?

Chocolate fountain?

Yep, best things ever! At my cousins wedding there was one, its just like a normal fountain but it sprays chocolate over the sides. We had little dishes next to it filled with things like merangues and marshmallows and were given long sticks to put them on. :D

I want one in my room. :(

We did fundraisers and stuff of that sort freshman and sophomore year for the funds *ONLY* for that :P

Then we do fundraisers Junior year to cover the costs of prom
